Hey guys, I'm finishing up a scholarship essay and I don't know which would be better to use, Arial or Time New Roman. The scholarship material specifies 12 point font, but not what type of font.

I know it sounds insignificant, but I'm stressing out over it. What do you think?

Edit: Darn it, I meant to make this a poll. :(

Thanks guys. Originally I had it in the Word 2007 default font, Calibri, and it looked awful!

This has been such a trial, mainly due to the college staff person assigned to be a "liason" to the scholarship committee taking a MONTH to reply to my e-mails. (Her: "Can you meet today?" Me: "No, I have classes all day today, but how about tomorrow?" Her: *a month of silence, then . . .* "Do you have all the materials ready? The deadline is in two days." Me: " . . . . ." Keep in mind I hadn't even been nominated for this scholarship at that point.)

TNR.

Although I personally like Arial better, all my technical writing classes have instructed me that TNR is the standard to be used.

I like the look of Arial better... but have always been instructed to use Times, 12 pt, 1 inch margins for anything professional.

The tried and true Times. Though bout TNR and Arial are both seen as 'professional' fonts, most people still prefer times.

But really, either one would be fine.
