all you madonna haters go rent Body of Evidence.
Ahhhh I never did say I hated Madonna... :p I may not like some of her decisions but her music is great. I really like her old stuff and a lot of her new.

I haven't seen that movie but she was brilliant in Evita.

I think everyone should mind their own business...

I dont dwell on what celebrities do...who cares...

Ohhhhhh, I care! LOL :D

Don't know why but I love to read Celebrity gossip magazines. It's my guilty secret. :p

I think what she did was great. That is a HUGE undertaking to just have been done for a publicity stunt.

Hm...I mean, good for the kid, I guess. But I don't think travelling all over the world and adopting a child is a huge deal for Madonna. Or any other celebrities. If they would chip in a 100k they could help a whole village, not only one child. It's the new thing to do, I guess little chihuahuas in pink little bags are out.

If John Smith from down the road would do that (adopting that is), kudos to that. Not to someone who has 5 Nannies anyway.

I personally feel sorry for the kid.
What!!!!! Have you seen Malawi???????? Have you ANY idea what those people have to go through to survive?? What she is doing is giving this boy a chance to make something of his life.

So what if it is a fad? Do you think it is easy to raise a child from a different cultural background. From what I have seen she is very involved with her kids. No one would adopt a child as a publicity stunt, far to much at stake and I don't think she is that stupid. So what if they have 5 nannies, I would if I could afford it.

As for people critisizing her, you all wish you looked like her at 47! This all reeks of celebrity jealousy! Let her get on with her life and do what she likes, how would you all feel if people were acting like this about you (general you). Madonna is not the one causing the hype, it is all the people who are so obsessed with "the famous" that they are not allowed to be normal!

By the way, so that you can all breath a sigh of releif, the adoption has been denyed. The childs father didn't understand what adoption meant and has now turned it down.

she is contributing money for helping the people. hey...I think she is a flake, too.....but she still is doing something good for people that really need it. how many celebrities actually do that? even if it's some selfish reason, doesn't matter. what matters is money is going to people in need. celebrities hardly need to adopt a child for publicity......they get all the attention they need.

I saw that at first, but I thought I saw on the news they said that he didn't understand, but that he then allowed the boy to be adopted anyways? Something about a better life in america or something.

But really, I haven't been following this so I could be wrong. This is just what I saw on the news twice. I'm gonna see if I can find something 'bout it :)

*Edit* here:

David's father, Yohane Banda, has said he didn't understand the adoption meant he would give up custody of his son "for good." But in an interview posted Tuesday on Time magazine's Web site, Banda said he will not contest the adoption.

"I don't want my child, who is already gone, to come back," he said. "I will be killing his future if I accept that."

It is an ongoing saga, I have heard he is trying to extract money from the family.
You mean from Madonna's family?

For what reason?

I don't understand how they would be required to pay him any money, but again....I really haven't been following any of this! I usually stay out of the "celebrity gossip" stuff. Was it because he didn't really understand the adoption?

Nope, it is the typical African reaction, all in it for a buck. He thought that she was going to raise and educate him and then return him to Malawi. Now that he is found out that it is not the case he is trying to get money out of them. I somehow don't see it happening, he certainly can't afford the lawyers.
