What type of leashes do yall prefer?

My favorite is the nylon double loop. I have a purple one and I probably use it the most. It's great to use the double loop when you're in stores and such. I suppose it'd be a bit difficult if my dogs were smaller, but all three are at an okay height to use it.

I prefer nylon over anything.

Good ol' four to six foot long nylon leads. They can easily be shortened if need be, or the dog can walk in front or in back on a loose lead. The girls each have a nylon lead to match their collars (except my BC mix, who has a black buckle collar...there weren't any black ones that were reasonably priced). Right now I'm searching for a pink leather lead to match a pink leather collar, and then I want to buy my lab a collar from Lupine.

is the dbl loop leash the one with a loop at the top, and then an additional one much further down, making the leash super short? I just used one of those theother day at the humane society...i had never seen that before! those are cool!!

and to be honest, i dont even know what kind of leash we are using...we have like 5, most likely a a cheapo one (he chewed his good leather one up :( )...but we RARELY use a leash.....

I think the double loops are a GODSEND for the dogs at the humane society!! lol ok maybe I'm being a bit dramatic, but it's so much easier for me to control them sometimes with the loop at the bottom of the leash.

For Lucas I just use a 6' nylon leash.

It's (high quality) leather all the way for us!

I have a grand total of ONE flat nylon leash - it's a puppy leash that I never use, mainly because when I *am* taking care of a puppy, I have a thin braided leather leash that I use.

Each of my dogs have a 6' flat leather leash - Ilsa's is from www.signaturek9.com and Ronin's is a really nice leash of unknown maker that he won at a dog show. They also each have a 4' rolled leather Weaver leash.

I have a 2' leather traffic lead, a leather tracking drag lead, leather tabs.... leather everything.

IMO, leather is the must-have for anyone who uses a leash frequently...
1. doesn't burn your hands
2. longer-lasting
3. stronger (in some cases - cheap leather leads aren't worth it)
4. smell better
5. look prettier for longer (just like fine wine, a good leather leash improves with age)
6. IMO, they have more character.

Mendota martingales are my favorites for casual walks and going places. Very durable, soft, thick and comfortable for the dog. They're pretty good to my hands, too. :)
If I use a normal collar/lead, it's usually for training, and it must be a nice leather leash. I really prefer loop leads to those with snaps.
For show/training, I use a VERY thin braided leather loop lead. (Some of my favorite leads: www.leashesbylyndale.com )

I use a flexi lead with my Papillon when I take him for walks, because he can't be trusted off leash. If I use a normal leash for him, it's a lightweight leather lead with a very light, durable snap.

And yes, leather leashes get so much better with age. I've had one of my favorite leashes for about 3 years now and it is soft, flexible and easy on my hands yet very strong.

I like leather leashes, too, especially for training. I'm still using one I bought fifteen years ago. Leather lasts a long time if you take care of it.

I've got a crappy nylon one that came with Sawyer when I adopted him. I'm looking around for a good quality leather 'hands-free' leash, that can be adjusted to a myriad of ways. Not those stupid looking "jogging belt" leashes.

I'm a leather lover too. I'm using a leather and chain leash that i've had for 5 years now. It's a bit beat up (the finish on the chain is chipped and not shiny in anymore,) but it's still strong! I've also gotten very good at shortening it at a moment's notice, and have knots in it to give me quick places to grab onto.

I like if for many of the same reasons that have already been given - strong, the leather looks nice even if the chain doesn't, lasts forever, easy on the hands etc. But i also like it because it's not something I am likely to lose, and this one has a floating brass ring on it and extra clip at my end so i can tie my dog off to things if i need to.

I've been told that it's most likely meant to be a horse lead, but when i bought it off of ebay for $20, it was being sold as a dog lead. If it IS a horse lead, you can bet I will be looking for another one when this one starts to give out (if ever). It is definately the best lead i have ever had for any animal... horse, goat or dog!

Deffinately my leather lead!!! I have a an 8ft hands free lether lead with 2 "O" rings that are set and a floating "O" ring and clips on either end of the leash. It''s soooo soft and soooo handy. I got it for free from Ronan''s owner cause he had two :D Runner up to that is the standard 6ft nylon lead but I wanna get a leather one.

Sounds like it is a horse lead, usually called a stud chain.

Emma isn't on a leash very often, but when she is we use a Nylon.
Moco cannot go offleash and he pulls like crazy while using a short Nylon so he has a retractable leash.
