Images are not graphic, but do have dead dogs.

Leaked: photos of pit bulls killed due to Denver ban - Denver News - The Latest Word

This happens all over Ontario, too. It's so heartbreaking. I have many local friends who fight to improve the reputation of the pit bull in a province that has all but given up on them, and I help wherever I can. Seeing links like this just devastate those trying to fix the mess that the bad owners/dogfighting ring people do.

I'm preaching to the choir, I know...

That breaks my heart :(

We got our APBT because the owner got a job in Denver and did not want him to be put down just for existing. Thank you for sharing this, I hope your friend has success one day.

I debated posting this link... but I decided to because despite being very devastating, it's a grim reminder of why we have to keep advocating for this poor, misrepresented breed.

Westword has started coming down on hard on Denver over this ban. One of the local news outlets had run a story about that big protest against the ban last month and quoted one of the local schmucks saying that they can protest all they want but he hates pitbulls because of personal bias and is going to do everything in his power to ensure the ban remains.

What's funny is so many people point to the "reduction of pitbull bites" since the ban went into place. Um yeah...it's hard for dead dogs to bite. But what they neglect to mention is the fact that all those people who moved out of Denver county into the surrounding counties that don't have the ban...there has not been a sudden massive increase in the "pitbull bites". In fact, I think I've heard of 2 bite stories since I moved here, compared to KC where there was at least one a week.

No one likes that fact to be pointed out...that there is such solid proof that the bans don't work.

Interesting you mention this, because it's exactly what my friend and I were saying tonight about Ontario's ban. Ontario's ban allows "grandfathered" pit bulls, but anyone owning a dog looking like a bully breed must always leash and muzzle it in public now.

And you wonder why the bite count is down... It's aggravating. And Ontario's stats for pit bull bites when they instated the ban were ridiculous... as in, the statistics did not match their reasoning.

It's just such a heartbreak.

Well I am glad you did, sometimes it takes the heart breaking photos for people to realize how horrible this is. I am more sketchy around chows and shar pei's to be honest than I am a Pit. Either way, no breed should be banned. The bad guys (the fighters, the horrible owners who teach and breed and overbreed aggressive Pits) will always have them, why should us responsible Pit owners lose out because of the morons? It breaks my heart to see these babies lose their lives, when everybody knows half of them are super friendly. Just yesterday I saw a Pit in the greenbelt in my development playing with 10+ children...I have encountered this Pit on walks and he is the friendliest dog ever and very well behaved. Sorry for the rant :)

Oh my gosh. ): If anyone of those were my dogs...I don't know what I would do. If they ever think of bringing up BSL here (even though I don't even have a pit bull) I will be gone before they can even start the debates. It's so disgusting what people do.

Pit Bulls are not "my breed", but living in a province with BSL instated, they need pittie lovers here. I work loosely with two bully rescues that take foster pit bulls and work hard to rehome them outside of the province. Many of these dogs get a second chance because of the people willing to stay here and help them.

Those dogs were somebody's beloved pets. Imagine if one of the owners of one of the dogs pictured saw those photos, and realized it was his/her dog lying there motionless? :( It's just sick, terrible, and unacceptable.

That made me cry :(

Today I was in the car with my mom and I guess someone's pit got loose, and it seemed like the owner/or someone was trying to catch him, and my mom said 'omg that dog is going to bite him!' .........ugh *insertbigeyerollsmiliehere*

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

~Dylan Thomas

How many of you thought that ruthless slaughter of those who cannot speak for themselves, for no other reason than that of their ancestry, how many thought it only happened somewhere else, in the past, how many thought that genocide would not be tolerated in America, that we would not embrace a culture of irrational fear, of insane hatred, of gross ignorance, of the murder of innocents?

Think again.

Money talks. It's high time everyone who abhors this cut off these communities at the bank. Refuse to do business with companies there. Boycott them as vacation destinations. Drive to the next community to shop. Let the chambers of commerce know. The mayors. The newspapers. The merchants. Cut off their blood flow and starve them. Bring them to their knees.

Coming from Miami and being a volunteer at the big public shelter, this is a sad sad reality :(

the pictures shown are heartbreaking.

what really killed was when I used to walk down "pitbull row" where they kept the confiscated pitbulls. seeing all these dogs run up to the front of the kennel with sad pleading eyes.. and knowing that they were somebodys best friend and were taken away. its just so wrong
