Now that I know my mom won't be bending and letting him stay, and also now that I know much more about him, I thought I'd post a thread for him in hopes of getting the word out.
Kiba (formally Attila) is a two year old male Pit Bull. He's up to date on his vaccines through July and has not been neutered. He's VERY sweet, VERY friendly, and VERY happy! I haven't seen anything that phases him yet (besides a scary bag of fertilizer in at TSC :rofl1. He doesn't have any food aggression issues at all and you can take bones/toys away from him without any problems.
He gets along extremely well with other dogs. Not only does he tolerate my bully of a bitch with aplomb, he doesn't push Rose's buttons either and gives her the space she requests without any incident at all. All of the dogs he has come in to contact with (barking neighbor dogs charging at us on walks, friendly, vocal neighbor dog in our yard) he either ignores or wants to play with. I don't know how he would be with small dogs. He has a huge prey drive, so it could go either way. I should also note the three dogs he has played with at our house have all been female (but I don't think he'd mind neutered males, either - intact, domineering male dogs are another question).
On the note of prey drive, he doesn't like cats that run. When they're just laying there he's fine and just sniffs them curiously, but if they run he will chase them. He also likes to chase squirrels and rabbits (and anything else little that moves). Livestock are very questionable. He doesn't bark at them, but I wouldn't trust him around them at all. (Which poses a problem for us, because we are surrounded by various forms of livestock, and he if were to get loose and run them it would be very, very bad.) He treats the cows, goats, and donkey's like cats...he's curious about them when they hold still, but if they move he tries to chase them.
He loves all people, but would be a bit too rambunctious for young children. When you run he likes to chase you and jump up and grab your shoulder (in play) and when he's excited he'll bound straight up in the air and use your chest as a spring board while kissing you. That wouldn't mix well with toddlers. When we're out in the yard he sticks close by and doesn't wander off. I'm pretty sure he could jump a four foot fence if he had the motivation too, so if you plan on leaving him out in the yard unsupervised he'd need a six foot fence (or other method of containment).
He knows "sit", is very food motivated, is crate/kennel trained, and seems like he is housebroken. He spends most of his time outside here so I can't say for sure, but he keeps his kennel clean and doesn't mark when he's inside. He's not destructive, but he does like to kill plush toys.
I'm located 45 minutes north-west of Indianapolis, halfway between Lebanon and Lafayette. His adoption fee will be to cover his neuter (if it needs to be done), which would be about $80-$120, depending on the discount I get at work.
If anyone is interested in him or knows of anyone that is interested, let me know! Feel free to pass this along to whoever, and I can answer any questions that may pop up. He's just such a good dog, and he deserves an amazing home.
