As soon as he starts in on Sean tell him you are done with the conversation and you will hang up on him. Now if he wants to talk about how his son is doing, how things are going fine you will continue to talk to him. BUT if he starts in on stuff you don't want to talk about hang up on him. And when he calls back wondering WHY you just rudely hung up on him tell him you are flat out tired of the ragging on you. I have founds sometimes that is the only way to get through to some people.

and if I ever remarry it will be to an orphan with no surviving brothers and sisters :p
^ that was my ex husband. Both parents deceased 10 years before I met him and a younger brother who is off doing his own thing and couldn't care less what his older brother is doing.

That's what I don't get. My family stays out of my business and very rarely says anything too offensive to me or if they do it's said once and it's over, never to be brought up again. I'm not so sure I can embrace the new interest with the 1 inlaw.

I know I'm not innocent and have offended him several times, but with minor stuff. He doesn't like that I won't ask them for help, or I thank them for offering but really, I have a handle on things. I know it offends him that I'm still shy with him and he says I'm "anti-social" when I'm not trying to be, just I don't have anything to talk about and I am reserved and quiet. (I know that ones hard to believe but I'm pretty shy in person) But those are personality quirks, and my FIL is very outgoing and overly-friendly.

DH won't be coming back here since we're going to Germany, so it will probably be more than a year before he can talk to his dad in person. I was just looking for a way to make it stop for the next year. I like Jules idea, avoiding Inlaws 101 sounds like a good plan.
