I don't know why I bother asking, as I don't think my life has intersected normal even once in the past few years.

As of yesterday, I have now had Gambit exactly two months. Eight weeks. 60 days. In the scheme of things, that is a very small amount of time.

The issue is, I can't believe that it's been that short of a time. Despite his issues, I feel more bonded to him then I do to Argon, who I have had for 2 1/2 years.

I've never fallen for a dog like I've fallen for Gambit. Has this happened to anyone else or am I having a "oooh! Dog is new and shiny and I must have it!" moment?

I don't feel more bonded to Tipper than anybody else (although we did bond fast), but about a month after we got her we did the same thing. "Really it's only been one month??? It feels like we've had her forever." She just fits and she's absolutely perfect for our household. I really think (in her case) that's its partially that she'd be happy anywhere. She loves us and we love her but she adapts very easily.

Oh heck yes.
It was with Teagan. There was just this instant connection. I have been really close to dogs before, but not this close. I don't think I could ever have this special connection with another dog.

That's how I was with Bella. Before I even had her home, I was in love with her, after meeting her as someone elses dog. I don't think it's something that happens everyday, no, but I think that when it does, it's perfectly normal, and it's something special.

I felt that way about Jackson. I mean... maybe it was because he was "my" first dog. I got him when I was 18 but I honestly went into it just looking for a puppy. I never thought I would fall so in love and be so bonded sooo quickly. I think my parents initially thought they were going to be the ones that ended up with the dog and that I would stop caring after a few weeks. My mom always commends on how good of a 'mommy' I am to Jackson. There was just something about him and I, we had an instant connection.

I was very very close to my childhood dogs. Moreso our GSD, Sadie. She was my first baby and we were very tight as she came into my life during a really hard time however it doesn't compare to Jackson at all. I'm not sure I'll ever have another dog like Jackson in my life. He's very special to me.

I think that while we love all of our own dogs unconditionally, there are just some that we take in and that take us in that we have a deeper connection with, which I think is perfectly normal. So it is with friends in life - we can have a strong connection with a particular person and regard others not quite so strongly. Likewise, with a particular dog, that connection may be that much deeper, more profound. A true cosmic connection with that one that is your heart-dog. It doesn't mean anything is taken away from the others that might own you......for you still love them just as much. Enjoy your relationship with your heart-dog. :)

I have the with Kiba (my first dog), and then Lincoln (my last dog). There is just that something extra special about them. Not saying I don't like the other two as much, but there is just something special about those two, that I can't believe it's been almost 7 and 2.5 years with them already.
