The best shelter in southern NJ/Philly is the Animal Welfare Association, a private shelter that's been around since at least the 1960's. Great service, and they keep improving. The staff really knows the animals. They do thorough vet care as a matter of course, have trained volunteers who start obedience work on dogs, etc. And they're very nice. I got a phone call from the director about a week after I adopted my last dog; she was just checking in to see how Hen was settling in.

Rescue group that I work with: www.arsoutherndogrescue.org --She will pull any dog from LRAS (high kill shelter in LR, AR) . Her PF site has all the LRAS dogs on it: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/asdr-lras.html
--ASDR is a great rescue

Pit- you left off this one for Memphis, TN: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/heartsofgoldpitrescue.html
I got Grady from a local rescue that pulled him from LRAS & flew him to me.

I'm working with http://www.paphaven.org/. We're always looking for more volunteers.

Jack Russells

http://www.russellrescue.org/ for ontario. Though they pull from all over, and will adopt out of province. Great people, be prepared to answer some tough questions. Always needs fosters. Very active rescue.

Border Collie
http://www.bordercollierescueont.com/ the couple who run this are fantastic! I have met some of the dogs. They work very hard to help this breed. When I get a BC it will be from this rescue :D (Check out Skip's page)

http://www.springerrescue.org/

This is the national group for ESS, with links to regional.
We adopted Fergus through ESSCLI. We were shortlisted for a dog since we owned a Springer for 14 years previously.
I filled out an application form. Then I was contacted by the initial interviewer and she learned what I knew about the breed. I got passed to the coordinator who ran down a list of possible dogs for me and we narrowed down the choices from the list of dogs. She was good and steered me to the dog that fit us best. Very good experience all around.
Once a rescue, always a rescue, we can only surrender the dog back to them.

This is the rescue where I adopted my Dobie... I was very impressed with them. Fair, reasonable adoption policies and well cared-for dogs. They have Dobermans, Dobie mixes and some small dogs.

They even tested the dog I chose on the spot with an older small dog and a cat to get a sense of whether she'd be okay with my little old dog and cat at home. Great rescue organization!

My wife and I have started a community-based site where we donate proceeds to dog rescues several times each year. We invite people to join a photo contest and select a charity to win if their photo wins. We believe in the work rescues do and will work to add the rescues you've placed on this post. Feel free to go to our site and suggest others for our program.

You're spamming so you'll get more hits to your website. This thread is for people to post links to pet rescues.... not for spammers.

Please post a thread in the Dog and Pet Sites part of the forum if you have not already. Your post would be appropriate there.

Who's Ya Doggy has a good new online lost & found service for dogs which is free for individuals, dog pounds and rescue shelters trying to locate/reunite lost dogs with their families:

- Lost & Found Dogs in the USA & Canada

- Lost & Found Dogs in Australia & New Zealand
