no, fellow Chazzers, not me. but apparently another person said that to themselves this morning. this is the 4th dog 'dropped off' on our rural road in the last couple years. as we sat on the back porch enjoying our morning coffee, we couldn't help but notice a truck go by that we didn't recognize. (we only have a couple cars pass each day...you notice that sort of thing) approx. 20 mins. later........there he is. the give-away is he is collarless, but you still hope someone will come looking for their lost friend. we know better, we know the people in this area, we once again feel just sick in our hearts. I'd like to rant to anyone out there that may be reading that somehow thinks this is ok. you should see this dog...he's confused and he is sad. he is laying under my porch scared to death. he is a cute guy, white with black ears. he is just dumped, and his heart is broken. and it is now my job to take him to the KILL shelter. I try to think there must be some reason...maybe the person really had hardship and couldn't afford to take him to the shelter themselves. more likely they're just big jerks that easily convince themselves that the dog will find a new home and live happily ever after somewhere else cause they got tired of him. I found a home for the last dog....it isn't going to happen this time. and here's a big surprise to the jerk that thinks this place was ideal 'because we have dogs, we must love dogs'......I can't keep him. sorry for the rant.......I just HATE this person and the people that do this with such a passion. the police tell you to shoot it....we have no animal control in the country. I'm just so angry. IF..IF anyone reading this has ever done this...I hope you're freakin proud.

:( That's horrible. I know how you feel. I got an outdoor dog kennel about 3 years ago and from then until now I've had 3 dogs dumped on me. Someone has to have some guts to trespass on my property into the back, open the kennel, put the dog in, and shut it because I live in the middle of the city. . .

Maybe you can post on petfinder or something? I wish I could help...

Poor pup :( Why can't people be responsible

That is just sick. Darn how can people be so darn cruel ? I just can't understand how they can do that! I am sorry you have to have that happen to you. Maybe there is a law there that makes dumping an animal an offense if not there sure should be. Maybe if you are sitting there and can see it get a license plate # and turn it in ?? These type of people should be taken out to the most remote of places with not much chance of finding their way back and dumped too ! Unrealistic but same thing. It just gets me irate how insensitive people can be to animals ( not just dogs) in this world. It is as if an animal has not feelings whats so ever. Again I am sorry that you have to go through this.

That's pretty much how I got all of my dogs... although Abbey was dumped on a highway and was stopping cars, looking for hers. It's a wonder she didn't get run over.
I, too, would like to take these jerks and dump them in the middle of some freakin' huge national park, naked, and see how they survive.
I found an old dog wandering down the road a few years ago, the vet said she had to be at least sixteen. Poor thing died over the winter, but who would dump an aged dog in the first place??? Too cheap to take her to a vet??

It is getting sick these days...people think that animals are just a thing that can be disposed of when they get to be too much to handle.
People need to realize that when they get dogs they are supposed to be a member of the family for as long as they live... it is soo sad.

Sorry you have to keep dealing with this. I know how heartbroken you must be to have to take him to the shelter. But just remember you did not get the dog and you can not save every dog in the world no matter how much you would like to.

Maybe you can give him a nice meal and a little love, so being dumped isnt the last thing on his mind.

funny thing about this little guy...he won't come to Dave or me, but keeps going down to the dog yard..sitting down just looking at my dogs. my dogs aren't friendly. we don't have dog parks, or neighbor dogs for playdates...they not only want to hurt this dog, they turn on each other in the heat of the moment...so they now are out there separated. (again...thanks all to this wonderful jerk) that's why we can't even consider keeping him beyond this afternoon (still have this silly hope that someone is looking). I did all the advertising for the last couple dogs dropped, but this has disrupted my household to the point that I can't keep him long enough to try. I just tried to give him water (he is back to hiding under the porch), and will entice him out with some dinner before we take him. Dave isn't happy with me by now cause I keep crying, but that's how lost this poor dog looks. sorry guys...I had to vent somewhere. we were supposed to go on a picnic today, but it's turned into one sucky day.

I'VE never done anything like that. However, as a child, my mother took me and our cat (that got mange from the neighbors dogs) aways from the house and made ME put it outside the car...then she drove away! :( I had him sitting on my lap in a towel the whole way, bawling my little eyes out. I was only about 10 y.o. Talk about traumatizing your child. I would never drive my child and their pet down a road to dump it off. Why couldn't she have done it herself and told me he ran away? At least then I wouldn't have seen the look on his face as we drove off. I knew he was wondering what he did wrong and why we weren't helping him and why I had just left him there. It still makes me cry....16 yrs. after the fact. :(

That's so sad. :(

I was talking to a woman a few months ago who used to have a rottie cross. The dog was very defensive of her and got in between her and her angry dad once. He told her to get rid of it so she tied it's bed and some food to his collar and left it at the side of the road  She must have watched until someone picked it up and much later the guy found her and told her what a blessing the rottie had been. I felt bad about the whole thing though. crazy world

I don't know how someone can abandon their dog somewhere and drive away looking in the rear view mirror at the dog. Then go home and sleep that night knowing the dog is fending for itslef.

People never cease to disgust me. I feel so horrible for that dog. I can only hope that karma exists when it comes to people similar to this owner.

That makes me so mad. I just wish I could do that back to those evil people. Drop them off buck naked with no food in Alaska and ask them to fend for themselves...

well, he's still here. my dogs settled down a bit, so I was able to bring them back into the house. the little dog hid behind a bush I have in the corner of the house, and wouldn't come out when I took him some food. I kept talking softly, but finally just pushed the dish under the bush. the food was too enticing...he was sooooo hungry. he still stayed there, and I didn't want to push him. I then put 2 large biscuits there for him and some water. I told Dave that maybe today he'll come out and we can take him....I sure wished all night that someone would be riding around looking. for some reason I just look at this dog and I am so sad. Dave wasn't thrilled with me for feeding him...yeah...like I'm going to let him go hungry. so, our evening went just as sucky as the afternoon.......and now I have a migraine. at least he'll get another good dinner today. to top it all off, it is storming with pouring rain. he is under my porch this morning, but I'm sure that's not great. at least it isn't winter. one of the dropped off dogs we had was right at the worst of winter in Feb. now you really have to wonder how someone could drive away knowing the dog would freeze, right? I am in one of those moods where I feel angry at people in general. well....cept for Chaz people.
