I think I will always have a retriever and a herder. The particular breeds may vary depending on what dogs are being bred and the direction various breeds go over time, but I really like the combination.

Probably I will always have a Vizsla but in saying that.. Penn is so perfect. I wonder if I got another would I just compare it to her and be like YOU FAIL AT BEING PERFECT.

If Ryan was not in the picture I would say, without a doubt that I will always have a terrier.

But I don't think Ryan's going anywhere, and so my answer is no.

I felt that way about Brittanys for a LONG time. I still wonder about it... but then if I try to picture my life without a Brittany in it, I get horribly depressed, so that was my answer right there!

I wondered the same thing when I added a second shepherd. Frag will always be perfect to me. He had his share of problems when he was younger, but he turned into a great, reliable dog in so many ways and he is the perfect companion. Patton.... is not the same dog whatsoever. He is different in many good ways and bad ways, but he is still awesome to me and I wouldn't trade him for the world. I'm glad it worked out for the best with him and the breed. They are just something special!

I don't think after just having Frag, I could have said that I would always have a shepherd. Just not enough of a pool for experience in living with one to know, so I really find it kind of odd to say you (general) will without a doubt always have a specific breed if you've only owned one of them, and aren't around others of the breed/type often. It's good to be realistic about how different a second dog of the same breed can be!

AKA, I know I will not always own a BC, even though Ricky is awesome and my heart dog. ;)

Up until recently I would have said I would not own another Brittany as our girl is very very full on (and a terrible shock to a person who has only owned Border Collies) but then she turned 3 and is just lovely :)
