I really like most of the above..

My mom thinks we should just call her Jo.. As to not make too much of a change for her.. but I dunno.. Or maybe Joey.. But thats a boyish name.

Name her anything you like. Just say her name frequently and give her a GOOD treat with lots of praise every time she responds in any way, by looking at you, coming to you, anything. In three days, she will definitely know her new name!

Ilsa is a good name, I like that, and I think "jo-jo" needs to go too, lol.

I'm no help at naming, Lacey got named Lacey because it's part of her registered name (which is incredibly long).

Here's a french name. (But she's a GERMAN shepherd. lol) Josette. Pronounced: zho-ZET (I think it can also be pronounced Zho - zay. (sort of) My niece's baby's middle name is Josette. My niece's husband is French and his mother's maiden name was Josette and I'm almost certain I was told she pronounced it Zho - zay.

It means God will increase. It's a form of Josephine

So, that would allow you to keep it somewhat close to Jo....although it is not difficult for dogs to learn a new name as MPP described.

Zho-Zay would be Josee, but it's close enough. The start though would be more like a 'Jo' sound, though for both. It's kind of hard to explain on a computer lol, but I'm sure you get the picture.

If you want to stick with the Jo sound...how about Josie? or something ending in "jo"...Mojo. As everyone said it's easy for a dog to learn a new name but if you go with anything with the long O sound it'll be similar...

Rowan, Rosie, Lola, Io, Mona, etc.
