Ok she has another day. The vet gave her a shot of dexi-something last night on an off chance that she has something called addison's adrenal disease (I think). He said she's a lot more spunky today. He hasn't tried to feed her yet but I'm going out to see her this morning and I'll see if I can get her to eat. He's going to give her some more shots today and if she's better I'll take her home tomorrow and I'll have to give her pills for the rest of her life. He said they are pretty cheap. cross your fingers.
Oh goodness I'm glad I went to the last page first or I would have been crying when things are actually looking up.
I sure hope this is the turning point and the steroids work thier magic. We're pulling for you.

I didn't know addison's affected kidneys. Here's a link on addison's in dogs though. It says it can be mistaken for renal failure. I am so glad she is picking up! Eating is really important at this point, so hopefully you can tempt her. http://www.vetinfo.com/dencyclopedia/deaddisons.html
So have you found out for sure yet?? Is it "just" Addison's? That is fairly managable, though the prednisone can create its own set of hassles, but it's dealable. Let us know!!!
I just read the recent activity on this thread about Sakari. I'm hoping and praying that she will get better. I actually have a good friend who has Addison's. She's doing really well. I'm sending out positive vibes to you!!!!!!!!!!!!! (((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Ok. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I haven't been at teh computer all day.
I saw Sakari this morning and she still looks sick but she does have more energy. She was sooo happy to see me. All wags and smiles. BUT she didn't eat. The vet said that it's because of high levels of ammonia in her system I believe and that if it is addison's the drug (GO named it) should stimulate her appetite in a round-a-bout way. We're giving it til tomorrow and then we'll know either way.
Thanks for all the hugs and finger crossing and just support in general. it really helps.
My vet's a neat old guy. He said he's only see one other dog with addison's in his career (and he's old! lol) and that dog has been happily living on meds for the last three or four years.
