Unless you are out flaunting your ferrets around (like Paris Hilton did for example), or you are telling strangers about your ferrets, there really is no way for someone to know. I had gerbils before too (They are also illegal, just like many kind of reptiles, sugar gliders, pet skunks, etc.). I dislike California for this reason (And the evil summer heat in my city), hopefully my mom is serious about moving back to Washington.
You're advertising on the internet that you live in California and have two ferrets. Sure, it's only the internet, but nonetheless. You openly advertise that you have this many animals illegally.

And I'm sorry, but I don't have much respect with someone who has such blatant regard for established laws. Some people go over their limit by one or two, but seriously? You're WAY over, AND holding illegal pets. I don't care if "everyone does it". It doesn't fly with me.

I have all my pets legally, FTR.

AND if I moved to the country they wouldn't be in effect anyway, so they make no difference to animal care either. We would never let them get taken away, because we would just move to where it was legal.
You can just pick up and move to the country at the drop of a hat? Nice! I wanna live in your world.

So why not move to where it is legal and then get the animals.

You're doing just that Punky

I dislike Dade for the reason they banned pit bulls. But if I wanted to own a pit bull, I simply would not move to Dade or move out of Dade. There's no NEED to own a pit bull or ferret or whatever, just because you want one. IDK I wouldn't risk it, others do I know of people who own pits in Dade and they still have their pits, but I also know people who've hidden pits in Dade and got caught. Its a gamble you take I guess, but its YOUR gamble.

I just think maybe it would of been best if you waited. I know people who live in cities that pit bulls or exotic pets aren't allowed and wait till they move out to finally get one. I guess it would of been a different story had you had the ferrets prior and had to move to California, but you lived in California, you know they are illegal and still got them. I know over here you can find a place cheaper in Dade than Broward, so people if going through money issues move and risk it but they have no other choice.

You didn't have the NEED or no other choice but to have the ferrets. I don't the what conditions the ferrets were in (like say a life/death situation), but I know you were wanting ferrets for some time now and if it was just a splurge of a moment thing like just went and got the ferrets, then I just can't find any justice for that. But the ferrets are already in your custody so I guess its just the matter of moving out now and hoping you don't get caught. Hope you do move out soon. Good luck.

This too.

Do you speed? Drive drunk? Roll through stop signs? Now there are laws I don't agree with, but they're still laws and to go about and knowingly and intentionally violate them and then tell everyone on the web how you're breaking the law??

Don't like the limit law? Work to get it repealed. Or move.

I am talking about "strangers" as in people I work with, see at the grocery store, neighbors. People who see me.

For all you guys know I live in a cardboard box with no pets and I am just making all this up. This is the internet, I don't refer to it as the real world.

But why are ferrets illegal in Cali ? Seems like an odd law to me.
They think they will form a wild colony and harm our crops. Most ferrets are spayed and neutered when they get here. And even if they did end up outside, they would die in a couple days with our extreme heat in the summer, and the cold in the winter. It really is a ridiculous law.

Actually I do speed. Never gotten a ticket thought. I do roll through stop signs (Who doesn't? Its not called the California Roll for no reason lol).

Yeah, I can't stand the people who run through red lights and stop signs. Ugh... it frustrates me to no end.

I'd be worried about going over the legal lmit of animals, especially if it was by 24 animals :yikes: Not to mention the illegal ferrets.

Speaking of ferrets, I wanted one SO badly when I was a kid living in Massachusetts. They were illegal there and my parents wouldn't let me get one... which, uh, makes SENSE.

LOL.. my mom told me something one time "its only illegal if you get caught"

Of course she pretty much died right after she said it and tried to take it back and she was joking but still, then I got a lecture.. For something SHE said. haha go figure... It was pretty hilarious actually..

Anyways. Do what you want. Your ferrets will be better off with you then dumped somewhere (im assuming they are rescues)..

I dont really care one way or the other. (Ok, so thats not true, if you did get caught I would feel terrible for the animals, but theres nothing I can do about that. Im not saying I totally disagree with your actions either.) Its really none of my business what you do.

And speaking of "being able to move if getting caught with 28 dogs and cats..."

Who can actually do that? Unless you're renting, you'll have to go through the trouble of selling your house...

SPEAKING of that... who would actually buy a house that had 28 dogs and cats in it? Imagine having a realtor show that house?

"And here we have the cat room... litterboxes galore. I'm sure you'll buy this house."

Yuck.

This is Jessie, btw.

Exactly...and if you're renting, who the hell is going to rent to someone with that many animals?

And it takes time to buy a house.

I wonder if this is what my neighbors think of us :rofl1: With the fosters, and transports (sometimes I overnight, or sometimes there's a couple hour "layover") it would be impossible to keep count ;)
I wonder the same thing about our neighbors across the street. They have some kind of terriers - Jacks, maybe. I *think* they have 4, but I'm not sure. The let them out in pairs, and they look very much alike. The only way I know they have more than two is 1- I'm a "dog person" and I notice little differences (hehe) 2-three of them got out one time and it sounded like at least one was very jealous in the house  and 3- they BARK. A LOT. and it sounds like several choruses.

:lol-sign:
Like I said we had people come over 4 YEARS after having more than one pap and they were completely shocked we had more than one (let alone 5!). We didn't MEAN to hide them either it's just no one noticed. We don't walk them in the neighborhood, or if I do it's one at a time. It made me laugh to see people come over and wonder where all the dogs suddenly came from when we've had them for years. :rofl1:

I didn't say I run red lights and stop signs lol. I just don't stop all the way at stop sign if other people/cars are not around. Who cares? OMG here we go again with everyone dragging this on and on. Just get over my life, and start worrying about YOUR OWN. I think enough is enough really.'

Its my life. Leave it be. Give it a rest for goodness sakes.

We already have 2 houses. And my house is not some run down house. Someone rented our other one, and it had even more animals in it then this one.

The only people who should care about the pets in my home, IS ME. Not anybody else.

You will when you get that ticket ;)

I've been tempted to do the same but I'm sure as soon as I do it a cop will jump out of nowhere LOL.

Maybe it's silly to think ferrets would "take over" in the wild, but that stance is not completely unfounded. Florida's having a real problem with animals not native to the area taking over and killing their native animals and plants.

Say you had to move, would it be possible to transport all your animals in one car trip? Sounds bitchy but it's a genuine question.

I've only just been reading part of this thread, but I have to say, that this is the best post ever! That picture of the "disrespectful" dog is priceless. And Cesar's picture is too. OMG! That is so him.

I won't be judgmental PG. It's none of my business unless the animals are abused and I have never seen anything to indicate that. But I will say you're extremely brave. I could never live with that many animals. And I love animals and am pretty good with them. But OMG! :eek:I am somewhat of a clean freak, I guess and even my 2 little Chihuahuas and the other short haired dog and the small amount of hair they shed causes me no end to sweeping and vacuuming, scrubbing and turning on my Scentsy warmers just to be sure, even though they get baths fairly often.

And as far as someone being insulted by the term "crazy dog lady," I have to say that people around my neck of the woods refer to me as the lady on the hill with all the dogs. (some of the time, I've had 4 and off and on, 5 including a foster) Now I'm down to 3 and soon to be just 2, my preferred limit. I'm one of very few people around who live on a hill, so that is included in my name, which doesn't look like it's soon to be changed with my reduced number of dogs. LOL. But no one has called the "crazy" lady....no one except my beloved Chazzers. :rofl1: I wouldn't mind being called the crazy lady with all the dogs. But ya gotta get one thing straight and don't make these discriminating, generalizing, judgmental, "breed specific" remarks that all crazy ladies with all the dogs have 40 cats walking all over their counter-tops and clammoring over their shoulders. I'm so offended! I must lie down. :(:D There is no way in hell I would go for that.:yikes:

All joking aside, what is this thread about again? Oh yeah...how many is too many. Well, that all depends.

Where did the OP go anyway?
