Oooh I like this thread! I need to start calorie counting and I need something to keep me honest, so starting tomorrow this thread will be it!!!

Now as far as how much you should be taking in calorie-wise as far as weight-loss:

The general idea is to take the weight you WANT to be, multiply it by 10, and that is your maximum daily caloric intake. Especially for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose, in the beginning you can lose weight very quickly. THIS ISN'T NECESSARILY UNHEALTHY! It just means that you've been eating far too unhealthy for far too long.

I'm topping out at 1450 for my caloric intake for my weight loss. I expect to lose my first 20 pounds pretty quickly because I have a BUTTLOAD of weight to lose. But again, this isn't necessarily unhealthy, it just means that I have been eating so bad for so long.

Stupid 8 million pounds of weight to lose . . .

To maybe put a positive spin on it...it must be really encouraging to see pounds start to come off quickly. You might have a long way to go, but you're probably more likely to see actual results every week. I have 10-15 pounds to lose and, well, I haven't lost a pound yet. With diet, exercise, etc. my weight hasn't budged...in part because I'm quite close to my setweight. It's very discouraging to put in a lot of effort and get nothing back! So I'd think seeing the pounds coming off quickly would be mega encouraging!

Maybe we do need one of those too :)

I rode for 40 minutes this morning. Last night I took an hour walk in a local glacial rockbed/ forest path.

This is what I made for dinner. I like to make a big pot of soup, then freeze half of it. It usually makes about a dozen meals :)

This soup contains:
Beef
carrots
cabbage
celery
corn
broccoli
cauliflour
Dark red kidney beans
Mushrooms
beef flavoring
a little salt
garlic
onions
cilantro
pepper
parsley
It's good stuff! :D

The grocery store. Well.. Dekka's grocery store. They come from a bakery in Perth Ontario I was told. They are called 'Waist Watchers'. Apparently this is as far west (where Dekka lives) as they will go.. but they are really popular as their stock quickly vanishes every week..

So they could totally expand and sell quite well. Means that I can 'snack' and it's really tasty with no guilt.. Blueberry, raspberry and chocolate are my faves.. and I love real cheesecake.. I don't feel gypped by these actually.

KenyiGirl, those soups look absolutely delicious! *drools* Did you write the recipes for the other two? I'd love to have them. Especially the spinach one.

Thank you Giny! I'm so sorry, but I don't have recipes. I make soups by instinct, I guess you'd say, lol. Next time I make soup, I'll make a spinach one, and I'll write it all down :D
