How do you fit all your dogs in your vehicle?

I have a pontiac vibe, and I love it!! It is not big/tall enough to fit a Riley sized crate in it though. I seatbelt him in the back. I have the back seats folded down, and a dog bed in the back. I have fit 4 big dogs in the back before, and everyone is comfortable. I also hike/track alot with Ry, and it holds all our stuff great! With gas prices right now I really love it (would ideally prefer a bigger SUV, but am perfect for now).

...We currently have a ford freestar van, and I *may* be inheriting it when we get another family car, and if I do, I can fold the entire back seat down (it has 2 front seats, 2 middle seats, and then a large back seat in the far back that seats 3 people, and I wouldn't need it) to give me ample space for 2 or more crates.
Two #400 Vari Kennels might fit side by side there. I say might because we had a '95 Windstar, and I know 2 crates that size were just a smidge too wide for where the 3rd row seat was.

I generally stuff Middie in a large backpack, zip it up, and chuck him the trunk.
Chaz is totally getting sick. No one noticed this? lol

On topic..

Suzie just gets stuck in the back of the car. For safety, we don't let her in the front part of the seat. She knows that in every car but the mini van. Its a newer car, and she's hardly ridden in it though

OMG. I noticed it and meant to make a comment about Middie being stuck under the seat on an airplane and completely forgot. Dang it.

FWIW I was at PetSmart this weekend and tried to cram Auggie into a bag that fits airline regulations so he can fly under the seat. I'm pretty sure I could have fit him in there if he didn't have four legs.

I need to find a way to secure my second crate into the car - the handle for the soft crate is on the wrong side so I can't seatbelt it in like Auggie's crate. Otherwise Pepper's crate may go rockin' around on our road trip...

Lets see Monday we fit all 3 dogs both kids in carseats and us in Jeremys Chevy Cavalier sedan for 4 hours. Oakley sat between the kids through the center console, walker behind me on the floor and Layla at Jeremys feet. It was tight and not so fun but it works.

The older my crew is becoming the less I take them places that requires a car drive unless it's individually. If they all come, Tilly sits in the back with seatbelt harness, Boomer has on of those car seats that hooks on the chair and Kassie has a car seat on top of the console, between both front seat.

One time I had to run into my son's school a quick second, just to drop something off. I unhooked all the dog so they could move around while they waited. When I came back, poor Kassie must have been pushed by another dog while she was trying to look out the window because I found her stuck between the door and the driver seat....poor baby. :(
