It is almost 70 degrees here today and though it is nice to have some warmth in January in New England (Massachusetts) I am starting to get scared of what is happening :yikes: It is not supposed to be this warm this time of year here. I am very concerned with the strange and abnormal weather patterns different parts of the country have been experiencing. Not to the mention the fact that the polar bears are soon to be extinct because their once cold climate is deteriorating. I may not live to see the real drastic changes in the future but I am only in my early 30's and am experiencing some changes now. However, I am concerned for the future of my daughter and her children someday. What are your views on this?
I posted a few pictures/examples of the changes of the Portage glacier in AK from 1914 to 2004 so you can see the difference. Notice all the ice that was once in the water and now it is ocean blue/green in color. Here is the link to where I got the pictures from if you would like to read more about it. They have more incredible pics on there as well www.worldviewofglobalwarming.org/

Those pictures are so sad :(

It makes me so upset about what's happening. Just thinking about the poor polar bears...

The warm weather is nice, Max has definately been enjoying it, but I sort of miss having a cool winter. I don't even know what to say, its just so strage...

It's about time the people in the US woke up to what is going on with the weather. Tornados in London, draughts where there never have been any, the Gulf Stream is moving South, Glaciers melting.... and we have been wasting time for years in doing anything about this. Politicians who don't know squat about science have been blocking any attempt to remedy the situation or at least slow the progress...

Thinking about global warming makes me sad. I wish that politicians would do something about this.. I am afraid of how things are going to be further down the line.

Over my many years I've seen many changes in weather ..... and back in the 30s no one thought of global warming or global chilling . Yes, there will be changes over time , but I think it will take a long time . Don't forget , by eliminating smog , we have opened more sun warming . We're damned if we do , and damned if we don't .

No kidding.
Even after all those people die in Hurricane Katrina and there's irrefutable proof that the reason those storms are hitting so far inland is due to global warming things don't change.

I'm trying to educate my self as best I can on the environmental issues. I went to see David Suzuki last year and he was amazing. As much as the information scares the crap out of me, I love his pragmatic approach - having everyone do all the things they CAN do that will help rather than focusing on the doom and gloom and sticking our heads in the sand. I've made some positive changes in our lifestyle that haven't even been painful or difficult.

I need to find his link....

edited to add: if you care about the environment Do something about it! Take the Nature Challenge :D

Global warming is definitely kicking in! Today in PA it was near 70 degrees as well... We even had our windows open, and had our door that goes out to the porch opened so that it was just the screen door!

I've had my windows opened ALL DAY to!! And when I went to my usual pond to walk Caiza around it was like the GREAT MIGRATION!!! I could not even believe all the people out today with their dogs, kids, rollerblades, bikes, etc. Everyone I talked to on my walk agreed that though it it nice it is also very strange and scary.............

The weather over here has changed :(. This winter has been so mild and there is still no snow!

My animal health tutor (who is a vet) also says heartworm will soon be present in the UK. There has only been one case known in dogs that haven't been abroad ect but now as the South is getting warmer the mosquitoes sp are living here.

Even though I live in Florida, we've had a very mild winter as well. It's only been really cold here for about 2 weeks this year.

sad to say it is happening but that not enough people take it seriously however I personally believe that it is something I least worry about. I feel that if the world does not learn to settle their differences and quit butting into each others affairs none of us will have to worry about global warming. Some idiot will get it good and warm for us !!!! You know what I mean and to whom I am speaking of .

Of course on the west coast they are thinking just the opposite. They are getting slammed with an insane amount of snow and ice.

The Farmers Almanac predicted some years ago that by 2010 we would get west coast weather and they would get the east coast weather.

I did read somewhere recently that the mild winter is 75% El Nino and 25% global warming. So, really, we only need to be one-quarter as scared as we currently are. Not that it isn't bad enough.

you said it well.

This warm spell is NOT global warming. Think about it, we have been doing damage for HOW long??? To think that *poof* all of a sudden the earth is 30+ degrees warmer than usual is rediculous.

HOWEVER, i do think something needs to be done to stop us from further destroying our earth.

There is great science that supports global warming. It's not happening at all all of a sudden but it as pattern that has been coming for decades. The problem is that the damage is happening at an exponential rate.

Globle Warming is NOT happening ;) In our science book, if you look at the difference in the temp over the years there is not that much difference. Really :) JMHO
