I need help! Ive tried a few kinds of nail color but they all chip horribly, Avon is the worst, surprisingly! Does anyone know a brand that can hold up to someone who washes dishes by hand and that kind of thing all day? Preferably $5 or less but if it really works great it will be worth shelling out some money for. What do you use? Thanks ladies!

I've used one called OPI in the past and it seemed pretty good about not chipping. Honestly, though, I haven't put on nail polish with any regularity for years. Ever since I gave away all those silk suits, most of my pumps and other law office clothes, lol!

I use any old nail polish, but I ALWAYS use a clear top coat as well. Right now I have my nails french manicure style (my own nails, did by me) and they still look great after 6 days. I type alot...home & work, housework, dogs, you name it.

I think the top coat currently in use is Sallie something or other "hard as nails"......sold a Walmart.

OPI is the brand I picked a few times when I've paid to get my nails done. Everything I have here I've bought at Target, and I can never get it to stay on for more than a few days. I think I just have really bad luck as far as nails go though, lol.

When I did it, I used a sealer on the bottom, three coats of polish, and a topcoat.

And you have to let each coat dry well before putting on the next one.

Also, make sure you go to the bathroom before you start ;)

I use OPI, too. It's a little more expensive than $5 but it's a big tube and is worth it.

Make sure you use a top coat! It makes all the difference.

I like Revlon because of the colors. Put on a clear base coat, two layers of nail polish, then a top coat. You can try the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails. My manicurist does that, and they don't chip for at least five days. Pretty amazing, considering how much I use the computer. The longest I've ever had them last was more than a week.

OPI is the best. It will cost about 7 dollars for a bottle, but it is bigger then most bottles. As well sometimes they have specials with 4 or 5 small bottles in a set, so you get to try more colors for less money. Like Renee said, make sure to use a base coat, at least 2 coats of polish and a top coat.

Another vote for OPI here. :)

I very rarely do my fingernails, there's no use, not with all the dogs I have. But my toes haven't been unpolished since I was about 13. Fire engine red or bright pink. :D
