ER visit... and poor Ronin got caught in a frightening situation for him...

I was pumping gas with Ronin in the backseat and a friend and her dog in the car as well. The gas pump malfunctioned and didn't shut off, so the tank filled up... and then overflowed in a violent spurt that hit me square in the face - the flow of gasoline didn't stop until the handler was ripped off the pump (by me.. heh...) but I ended up getting about two gallons of gasoline on my face (in my nose, in my eyes, etc.)

Gas in the eyes + gas in the ears + gas in the mouth = very bad, so my friend took the wheel and drove us all to the ER. Her husband came and picked up her dog, but Ronin was alone, locked in my little Dodge Neon for the better part of three hours. He was very good and didn't destroy anything, which is amazing since he's got separation anxiety.

I was so proud of him... once I'm allowed to drive again, I'll be going out and getting him a nice big toy and a few sow ears/snozzes!

Yikes I'm glad your ok, what a close call. Glad Ronine was ok three hours must of been pretty scary for him but given the circumstances ( I'm assuming their was no room for him in your friends husbands car) you didn't have a choice. What a good boy he was for not destroying anything. Luckily it wasn't a warm day either as that could of been disaterous as well.

I hope so too! We're going to be pursuing legal action and hopefully get at least my medical bills covered... if not more. The clerks didn't help at all either - they just pointed my to the bathroom and continued on reading magazines.

They'll know in a couple days if I have any permanent damage to my left eye - it's pretty sore and irritated right now. I've got chemical burns on my eye (OUCH!) as well as swelling and irritation n my hands and face.

AND my hair still smells like friggin' gasoline, even after washing it FOUR TIMES!!!

PS - a friend just brought Ronie a pink stuffed kangaroo, a pink stuffed cow, and a bag of Better Than Ears for being such a good boy... how sweet!

Awwwwww that's so sweet .!! I've only gotten a little gas on my hands , and it wasn't pleasant !!! Feel for you !! I'm not for some law suits , but I feel you should be compensated ,

The phrase "complete ineptitude" just BARELY covers their reaction. I'm like Grammy in that I'm usually not one for law suits, but I really DO think legal action is not only warranted in your case, but pretty darn necessary!

That's an awful situation- and the last thing you'd ever want to have happen is have MORE people exposed to that type of danger.

Give Ronin a hug for me- seems like he knew that you needed as little added stress as possible at the moment!
