Chase birds? I mean birds that are flying in the sky, not birds that are on the ground? Mia will tilt her head back and run full speed after birds flying over her. I'm kind of afraid she'll run into a tree or something lol.

Also does anyone's dog get the zoomies and purposefully hit those door stop things to make them make noise. (like this: http://www.azpartsmaster.com/images/catalog/fshop/SO4216.jpg) Mia will do circles around the apartment making sure to run into the door stop every time to get it to make noise.

Kody will even chase them in the car. He'll look at them and run back and forth in the car. But yeah Kody will run around the backyard with his head high up running after birds.

but I think hes pretty smart and knows whats in front of him before he starts running

We used to take Alaska (rainbow bridge :()and Georgia to the ocean and they would chase huge flocks of seagulls all the way down the beach along the water.

Caleb stops and watches birds flying. The door thing- our house isn't set up so he could run into them when he butt tucks, but I'm sure, if we had that type, he'd be poking at them just to make them go "boing"!

One time Strider started coursing the swallows as they were swooping around the pasture. I let him because it looked like awesome exercise, and I didn't think he could ever catch one in a million years.

Well, he did catch one. It was skimming the ground doing incredibly fast twisting zooming maneuvers and he was following it, and he lunged forward and killed it as it turned a corner. I felt so bad. At least he ate it.

Another time he ran about 30 feet into the ocean trying to chase a flying heron, before he realized he was going underwater. :rofl1:

Yes, Blaze does/did. I didn't allow it because he's off leash in non-fenced areas alot, so chasing birds in the air isn't okay.

Yes, my guys have chased flying birds, great exercise for them. We live within the air space of an Air Force base, one day one of the planes went overhead really low. Petie took off after it, when he got to our property line, I called him back. However, we did joke that if he had kept going, I would have to call the base and ask them to let me know when the Jrt showed up, tugging on the plane's landing gear :rofl1:

We had a golden that did this when I was a kid. He got hit by a car three different times because of it :( Lucky Mia isn't going to be birdwatching by a road!

I'm cracking up over the mental image here, I want to meet Mia SO BADLY!

No, no bird chasing here...Vegas is just looking for babies to eat and Sawyer looks for things to bark into a corner.

yes I think it is great exercise for them and they love too but they only do it on command because they are offleash near busy road as well. My friend looked out her window one day and saw the dogs running away from me and she came running out in a panic to see what was wrong. I just pointed to the tiny little birds on the rocks that were taking it in turns to tease the dogs lol

I have some that will chase them in flight, some that will wait for them to land and stalk them just to get them to fly away, and a couple that will pounce on them and eat them if they land, but dont waste their time with the ones in the air, lol

Yes, and some zoomie dogs that get going so fast they slam into something to stop......I swear we need to get their brakes checked sometimes, lol.
