Buster comes hardly anywhere, unless I am taking him out for his walk. His DA and the fact that he is uncomfortable in busy situations means its probably not worth it.
All my friends still live at home and/or have dogs so I'm not going to take him there.

I'm away for xmas atm and all the dogs are being boarded, considering we have to seperate them, 2 have DA, one has HR etc, its easier on everyone to board.

My next dog I would love to just be one I can take everywhere, and when I can drive, Buster will come a lot more places as his favourite place is the car, but atm I don't have the say.

Bimmer just plain doesn't like going into strange, enclosed places. I can only guess it's the wolf in him, so he's happier staying home during the day. Sometimes I'll give him a turn coming to the store, but he's generally happier staying at home with one of the grrrls or at my parents' house where mom spoils him.

Tallulah . . . She's better off staying with Bimmer, lol! I do take her some places to get her out and socialized, but I try to stick to places now where she isn't going to get the "oh why do you have that vicious dog" crap. She's been damaged enough by that already. You can see her just turn off.

Kharma goes with me most of the time if it's someplace she can accompany me. If I'm going to be out at night she generally goes with me, for all kinds of reasons. Plus, she's good company driving and she seems to be just as happy waiting for me in the vehicle when she can't go in as she is waiting at home.

Giny, I noticed that too and had a good chuckle. Question: Do you take your dogs everywhere you go? Answer: Going nowhere. Next question: Who's going nowhere, you or the dogs? :lol-sign:

It really depends. They love to go everywhere they can, and they often do. They come to work with me and they would rather sit in the car if we have to run in and grab a few groceries, etc. We even took all three on our honeymoon! However we have friends who aren't as fond of them as we are and we understand that. Plus, sometimes it is nice to go out by ourselves. As far as extended periods of time, unless a few select family members or friends can dog sit in our home, we usually take them along. If the dogs are unable to go, we don't go. In 6 years I have spent less than 2 weeks away from them!

This may sound weird but I don't want to spend an Xmas with out her. Dog's lives are so much shorter than people's. BUT I don't bring her to things where other people have dogs (unless she knows them) or if its too many people.
No, it doesn't. I'm the same way with my two. :)

To the original quesiton: No. My dogs don't go everywhere with me. And thats fine. They don't have to. Though I'm sure Blaze (and sometimes Lizzie) would love to, I do have a life away from my dogs (as bad as it might sound).

I like the saying "Dogs are not our WHOLE lives, but they make our lives WHOLE."

I take them most places. They come to work with me everyday, and they are invited to at least half of the parties that I go to. If I am going away for a weekend then I usually take them simply because I could never board them and hate to burden my parents with my dogs.

Seriously I hate going out without them. I always feel guilty.

The dog. :D She's not ever going to end up in a shelter again. Thus, she's not going anywhere. And so the name, "GoingNowhere".

I do take my dog pretty much everywhere - but the thing is, she's welcome pretty much everywhere I go. My life simply works well for dogs.

She goes to work with me every day (horse barn). I leave there, go home for a late lunch, and go out to the other barn to take care of Tristan. She stays in the car while I ride, so she will stay home of the weather is really extreme, but is almost always there. If I go hang out at a friend's house, it is one of two places, both of which she is not only welcome but expected.

She'll stay home tomorrow when I go to my aunts for Christmas dinner - a very non-dog oriented group! But it'll just be a couple of hours, and I will take my own car so I can leave early if the rest of my family wants to stay longer.

I have never, ever left her overnight. I'm going to Florida in April with my family for four days, and I am panicked already. She is staying with my best friend, who is the person who rescued her, so I KNOW she will be okay, and will have tons of fun hiking and playing with the other dogs...but in almost three years, I think the longest we've been apart was maybe 10 hours.

My dog has zero separation anxiety, but mine is terrible!

LMAO!!! I hear ya!

Although I've been told that if I leave Kharma at the store when running errands or going to get lunch that she fidgets and whines the whole time I'm gone. I think she does it to annoy Charlie ;)

The longest time I ever left Meg was with the same friend who is keeping her while I am away in April. I dropped her off at their house one morning while on my way to a horse expo in Mass, and picked her back up that evening on my way home. My friend had to leave for a few hours during the day, and her husband stayed at home. Apparently somehow, Meg got out of the house/yard (there is a dog door into a huge yard with 6' fencing; I suspect she just got out the door when he went in and out). When my friend came home, she said Meg was sitting perfectly still near the end of her driveway, looking just like a woman waiting for the bus. "Excuse me Busdriver, can you tell me how to get home?"

When I leave her at home with my parents, they said she usually spends about 10 minutes staring at the door, then goes upstairs and sleeps on my pillow until I get back. Considering how rarely I leave her, I am really lucky she doesn't get more stressed and destructive! I keep telling myself that I am going to have to be careful whenever I get my second dog to MAKE myself teach it how to be okay being left alone.
