some people try to run one breed packs because they love the breed. people who make their living catching lions use a mix of foxhounds, coonhounds & crosses of the two. of the pure breeds treeing walkers tend to have the best blend of speed, nose & treeing instinct. i have heard of a guy running pure triggs and selecting for treeing. if people are running bobs & lions & need to catch they are more likely to run foxhounds & their crosses. except for certain parts of ID & MT (wolves), the most common causes of dog deaths while running lion are overheating & getting hit by cars when the lion crosses a road. lions will almost never face down the dogs. the ones that will usually go into a hole so they can face them head on one or two at a time. i know of a fella that treed a mature tom lion w/ a pair of jagds.
lots of good lines out there.
