People do such foolish things at times. A friend of mine has kept her little Shitzu going for (literally) years and years past when he was expected to die from cancer. And not just alive; happy and bouncy. He was a joy.

About a week ago, he hurt his back and was in terrible pain, unable to stand. Nothing seemed to help. A heartbreaking decision, but she was going to take him tonight to be pts. But her neighbor, who was looking in on Joey while my friend was at work, called at noon, screaming, "He's dead! He's dead! Oh my god, he's dead!" My friend, of course, felt as if her heart had been torn out. She rushed home--where Joey greeted her with waggy tail.

Turns out the neighbor's dog had died unexpectedly at the groomer's. My poor friend! I can't imagine how much this added to her burden.

True, Whisper.

I wasn't putting it together that it was the same neighbor who was looking in on Joey whose dog died  I read it that it was the Joey sitter telling her about another neighbor's dog

Oh wow! Miscommunication can really do a number. She should have said that her own dog (by name or something) had died. But in a horrified state of mind, I guess she couldn't think. That must have really freaked out your friend though. I hope your Joey can get better or if not, put out of his pain. That's awful. Vibes being sent to your friend. And vibes for the neighbor who was looking in on Joey and whose dog died. It sounds like something happened suddenly. How sad.

Sorry, but if my dog died suddenly and unexpectedly at the groomer's, I wouldn't expect my friends to judge me for speaking irrationally or not making much sense.
