He is doing much better, we went on a very short walk yesterday, and it made him so tired. But he got to do some sniffing which was good for him. His belly is looking better, I give him 1 antibiotic pill a day and 1 pill for pain twice a day which he is doing very well taking. I just place it in the middle of mushy food and he takes it right away. He loves that food they gave him, but supposedly it is very bland. I think he is just so hungry now that he has more room in his belly, and he hasn’t eaten too much.

He is starting not to be so sleepy and I think he is feeling better. He wants to go outside some instead of just sleeping on the bed.

You should have seen all the plastic they pulled out of his stomach. I don't know what most of it was. The peanut butter jar parts was a very little part of it. And there was not a whole squeaky toy as I thought they had said, but a whole SQUEAKER from a toy. All the plastic parts wwere about the same size as that, and there were about 6 pieces. There was something that was really hard plastic, and I have no idea what it was.

I am glad to hear that Brady is coming out of it ok. Let's hope that there is no repeat. This is scary and yet very educational. I did not think they may swallow plastic. Non of mine have to my knowledge so far.

I sure hope so too. His belly is all shaved too, and his arm where they put in the i.v. Poor boy.

How frighting that must have been. I am so glad you were home when he became ill. Did the vet give any tips on how to change his behavior?

Well, she basically said I have a "chewer" on my hands. I have to keep all toys up, and he can only have them in my presence. She said it may be better if I give him edible things instead of toys and such, like rawhides, and pig ears. I told her he sometimes eats big pieces of the rawhides, so we may be sticking to smaller things that are chewy, like the pig ears. She said NO PIG FEET, which I don't give him anyway. They are hard and he can choke, or swallow and there again be stuck. She mentioned a nice big Knog with peanut butter, but he got through that orbee bone, so I am not sure it would be much different, but maybe only in my presence, but I think I am just going to stick to edible stuff. She said no greenies, but I don't give those to him anyway so I never asked why.

I removed the whole stack of wood from the backyard, bc he likes to steal pieces from that. So unless he starts eating the house, which he has done when he was a puppy, I can hopefully keep my monster under some control.

I still can't believe him!

how old is Brady? Do you work him at all (as in retrieving?)--our lab was a big chewer, but once she started daily retreiving (frisbee, ball, bouy,whatever--in water-pool, pond, etc.) she was much better. she's an old girl now--but still would retrieve until she fell over dead if we didn't make her take breaks!! It's amazing how powerful those genes are!

I am so glad he is all right. That was scary! I know I can't give any of my dogs soft squeaky toys. Some dogs do all right and others demolish them. Even my Chihuahuas can't have anything but hard rubber toys, like Kongs or hard Nyla bones. It's just amazing what the little devils will get into. I hope he continues to feel better.

He is three. I have tried to get him into retreiving, but he is just not at all interested in it. His girlfriend (Jenny - chocolate lab) loves it, and she will do it, but he has not interest in it.

I take him on daily walks, and I usually try to go back near the creek and let him off leash to run around and smell, and look for things, but he just loves to chew. I wish he would retreive, I would love to do that with him. But I think he would just try to eat the plastic frisbee.....;)

Awww thanks Barb, I am so glad to have my monster back too. He is such a goof. He was trying to run around and get me to chase him in the backyard last night, and I was trying not to look like I was playing, as I am supposed to try and keep him calm, (luckily this is the last day for that), and he was pretending I was chasing him anyway and running around the yard.

His belly is looking much better, I am glad to see it healing so well. The only spot he seems annoyed by is the spot on his arm that they shaved to put in his I.V. He keeps trying to lick that spot.
