I personally believe is worthwhile to mention that his "Koehler Method of Guard Dog Training" was named Best Dog Book for the Year of 1967 by the Dog Writers’ Association of America. This Method of Dog Training has been praised, championed, vilified and in some cases damned which what has happened here on Chazzzzzzz regarding Martin Richling.

This doesn't necessarily pertain to me personally, but I think it should be mentioned.
Very true Mellissa, but look what we have learned since 1967 :D We have landed on the moon, irradicated small pox, created personal computers, mapped the human genome, and discovered a more effective way to train animals, just to name a fraction.

WHY oh why are we continuing to feed this mans ego?

"Any dog questions"? who on earth does this Richling man think he is? some sort of incredible dog trainer who we should all strive to be like?

The more everyone rewards this idiot by paying attention to him the longer he will linger around.

Pull your head out of your ass, Richling. NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN YOU OR YOUR ABUSIVE TRAINING METHODS.

:hail: :hail: :hail:

Remove the payoff (feeding his skewed ego) and he'll go away and find some other place that "works." Make this not "work" for him or his worshipers.

He's gone, but he can still read posts, just not reply.

1967? LOL. Yep...Before electricity, candles were thought of as the best kind of lamp. Before the automobile, horse and buggies were the best source of transportation across land.

Outrageous

If you will look at your own pictures that were posted....the one posting as Summit is the lady on the vertical climb obstacle with the German Shepherd's dog (aka Summit).....Not Martin Richling....

As far as SAR...who the heck knows.

As far as heads up their asses....

I also have my own training facility in northern Kentucky and spent over 4 years with Richling K-9....OH MY GOD...Call out the National Guard to protect my client's dogs from such torture. :lol-sign:

In closing, you can all feel very smug and content in your thinking but then....so does the Taliban, the Nazis, etc.

Now I'm sure you will ban me also.....oh woe is me!

well gee, i'm a tiny bit bummed that he's gone. since he's so proud of all the "hard" dogs he's broken, i'm very curious what he'd do with a soft dog.

I wondered that too. I wanted to ask him what he would do with a small dog like Tavish. What if Tavish didn't obey? What would he do? Probably throw him over a fence into a deep pond or something :yikes:

Things have changed even more recently than 1967. In 1986 Vicki Hearne's Adam's Task: Calling Animals by Name was critically acclaimed. She advocated shoving a dog's head in the hole they had just dug after filling it with water. Would that be advice we'd all share now? I'd hope not.

omg.. is that what Richling does? I read somewhere on the threads about half drowning a dog. I'll have to go back and re-read that.

Yea your right..

The dog should THINK that it is drowning. It is not half-drowned.
Goodness.... I can't imagine someone doing that! :yikes:

Wow.. that really pisses me off...

Yeah, the dog thinking it is drowning IS half drowing. I can't imagine someone doing that to me. How awful would that be for a poor innocent dog....
