She is very nice over the phone and usually responds to emails very promptly.

The things that make me worry is

1) only 1 year health guarantee (Is that normal?)

2) So many different dog breeds?

3) Expensive Mixed breeds? ...

4) Breeds birds too? Though those birds look very healthy... I use to own a bunch of parrots o_O

Heres the link

Hestekinhills.com

I've been warned about breeders that mix breeds, and breeders that half multiple breeds. I will be flying there to pick up my puppy, she had no objections about me coming to her house. The puppies have limited AKC papers she says. And they will have I think she said 2 shots by the time I get them.

What do you think? I've already put a 50.00 reserve on a puppy so I'd get first pick.

Again, she was really nice over the phone! And answers a million or more of my questions!

Umm well not going to comment on lots of other stuff. The health guarantee is a bit short. BUT what is up with the diff pricing of the pups in the litter to pet homes? (i understand the diff pricing pet vs show)

Well for the female shibu she is 1100 because they were thinking about keeping her to show. I don't know about the other breeds, I didn't pay attention. All the Shibas are 875.

Since I'm flying up there mine will be 575

Yuck. Lies about their mixed breeds (will be non shedding because 1/2 poodle = lie), breeds mixes, way too many breeds, no health testing... Stay away.

No health testing is done on the parents to make sure they carry no genetic diseases. Basenji's have a disease that is treatable, but fatal. Basically if they have it they must be treated for the rest of their lives. I didn't see any information on that on the site.

Vet health testing isn't good health testing. It says nothing about whether the parents have any hereditary problems... Breeders need to do some other tests for those, OFA for hips and CERF for eyes for example... A health certificate means nothing. They could breed dogs with all kind of genetic problems and you wouldn't know.

Check the sticky threads in the forum.

Fanconi: I have had my Basenjis since 1995 and I have not had a personal experience with Fanconi Syndrome. There is however a one time life time test to determine if a Basenji is clear of Fanconi, a carrier, or affected by Fanconi Syndrome. Breeders can now carefully plan their breedings to assure this condition will not be seen in the future of the Basenji breed. To help assure our puppies are as healthy as possible we are currently in the process of having our adult dogs tested. Our puppies are additionally guaranteed for their life to never be affected with Fanconi syndrome. Read our Condition Of Sale Agreement for more information.

I think thats what you are talking about "In the process of" being tested...but still lifetime guarantee for that disease.

This is the first time buying a puppy this way for me. I'm paying 200 to reserve a puppy before I fly up there. It kind of sucks because I don't get to see the facility or adults or puppies before I pay and buy plane tickets and make expensive decisions!

Not going to comment on the rest, it's already been said. But she also feeds Pedigree puppy food and I personally would never buy from a breeder that feeds that low of quality food. When I look at breeders I want to see if not raw at least a very high quality food.

I also think that you seem to know that she doesn't seem to be a reputable breeder deep down, or you wouldn't be asking. But I could be wrong.

IMO I would not get a dog from her at all.

Well thank you for your comments. I wish I could find a breeder around here. :(

The puppies will be born in 2.5 weeks. I guess I will ask more questions then.
She doesn't want them to go until 9 weeks old though.

I don't like when in the websites they say "puppies for adoption" when they ARE responsible for making the breeding.

You BUY from a breeder NOT adopt adopting is from a shelther.

Adoptin a dog is rescuring a homeless or msitreated animal.

They say they are breeders but they also say this

Our goal is to provide all animals, even troubled unwanted animals with the best a home has to offer. We offer the highest quality pet care. We love each and every pet and strive to accomplish the best results possible for him or her. We understand that every pet requires different and unique structuring to maintain the highest level of trust and bond between human and animal. Each pet has its own needs in life and needs special attention to insure the quality of life for that animal.

Adoption Procedure and Available Pets

There is an Adoption Fee selected and determined by our Rescue and Sanctuary service, this fee goes towards the upkeep and care of the animals in our facility. We are self funded and non profit and we are not affiliated with government

Yes I looked in my state, they said no breeders here. I will call the one in her state tomorrow, they didn't have an e-mail.

I wish I didn't have to do it online too.

I sent her an e-mail asking for pictures of the pregnant female.

Again, thank you so much for your comments. It only scares me more
but I need the information incase something bad happens! Maybe I should take her to a vet while I'm in Wisconsin to get her checked out, rather than waiting until I'm back in Alabama.
