Obama wins the right to detain people with no habeas review - Glenn Greenwald - Salon.com

Same **** the dems were railing against Bush for? Obama just secured the ability to do the same **** thing. 'Meet the new boss, same as the old boss' indeed. I guess it's all about location, location, location after all though. It's not OK if it's done in Guantanamo but anywhere else? Sure, let's do it!

Obama proves once and for all that he's just a farce. A clever little show to fool people into thinking he'd actually be different.

I wonder if I voted McCain how things would be going? Probably just about the same. This country is so f***ed.

So....GO....you believe illegal immigrants should be given zero American rights, but you believe the foreign "criminals" being detained deserve the fairness and compassion of a habeas review? (not that I think there's anything wrong with that view, I'm just curious).

Because, keep in mind, everyone who complains about paying for an illegal's education or children, who do you think pays for these trials?

Milo, I think the number one thing GO was pointing out with his statement was "new boss, same as the old"..........it does get a bit tiring to hear so many say how much better and different Obama is/will be when clearly that doesn't seem to be the case (not like I expected it, but others DO)

And as for paying for these trials opposed to giving college money to illegals isn't the same in my mind.

A man breaks the law, a legal citizen no less, say he robs a liquor store at gun point. We pay for that trial too, and to feed/house him during his sentence...........but I doubt we'd all be in favor of giving his child money for Berkley simply BECAUSE he robbed that liquor store now would we?

In reality, that is what the ones who agree with giving illegal children college money are doing. Their PARENTS broke laws, so we should give their children monies for that? I just don't see what's so hard to understand about all of that.

I have two close personal friends who weren't born in this country and came here as children. Their parents went about things the LEGAL way and they are both now American citizens. It didn't happen over night, it took many years to become full citizens. They were quite poor when they arrived, but they managed it somehow.

If you have a parent in jail, it is much easier to get government funding for school. So basically, no we shouldn't give the kids money "just because" their parents broke a law, but we should give them money because they are hardworking individuals who need help BECAUSE their parents did something illegal.

Your friends were lucky their parents did things legally...but would it be their fault if they didn't?

Yeah, President "Change" is reallllly turning stuff around

Bingo. Just want consistency.

Also, sometimes I just argue to argue. If I argue a point, it doesn't mean I necessarily support that point. I just want to argue at that point in time.

I never have a point. I find it extremely hard and irresponsible to take a strong standpoint when most issues are so complex and affect so many.

I mostly argue to try and figure out why others feel the way they do, or get more details, or just to understand the situations, different possible solutions, and different predicted (or feared) outcomes.
