When kids do things like this is should be obvious to everyone something huge is wrong in the world. We are seeing more and more kids becoming violent and killing and no ADD or meds are not to blame. I HATE that about our country/world. A pill is not going to fix something, not even be a band aid and we don't need to blame everyone else for the actions of another.

Parents are semi part to blame in this case but not entirely!

I think the parents are entirely to blame. Who the heck doesn't keep track of their 7 year old long enough for them to run off and go kill some animals at a zoo? Hope the kids and the parents get a serious smackdown for what was done.

He's still young, hopefully at 7 therapy can straighten him out....and hopefully the parents get into therapy too...I agree it's the parent's fault.

Where were the parents? I mean he was missing for awhile I'd assume. Yes, I think the parents need to be held accountable. Yes, its unfortunate. That little boy could have easily been killed by those animals. Getting too close to the crock. Just wow.

That's just plain scary and I think the law should make an exception in this case about arresting him, not only for his own good but for everyone else... How long before he graduates to people? There's no guarantee the parents will put him in therapy, so maybe the courts can...

Definitely the parents responsibility. And yes, I think the courts should ORDER that the boy be in therapy, and maybe the parents be in some type of parenting classes.

I think that is WAY over the top. That 7 year old doesn't deserve to be in jail. Not for something like that. I used to kill snakes when I was a kid and so did my fiance. Graduating to people? I dont see it. Assuming that he is just a normal kid that likes to kill things. Thats nothing new, but then again I've been around little boys.

I've been around little boys too- raised three. I think killing snakes for fun is disgusting. I think this boy and his parents should be held responsible, and watched very closely in the future. This is just not normal.

Well, then I guess me, my fiance, and both of my cousins who are now in their 20s needed therapy? Hardly. Kids will be kids. And some dont see the big deal that adults make out of certain things. I am not saying its a nice thing to do, no, its very wrong. But I dont think we should assume he is mental. It could very well be a lack of the parents parenting skills.

There's a difference for killing snakes that you randomly find... then breaking into a zoo and killing animals with a rock, and throwing the rest to an alligator. A little more thinkin involved there methinks.

But wait.. he's just a kid! Lets just let him walk without punishment for his actions. Pffftt!!

I have no idea if you needed therapy, and i don't know what kind of parenting skills you were subject to, but killing things for fun is NOT ok. It is not kids being kids. Thus is different from hunting or killing things that are harmful to us.

I find your stories of killing snakes disturbing on the face of it, unless there was a good reason for it.

I agree.

And I have THREE boys and had two brothers growing up. I can't think of a time they ever went out and killed ANY living thing for the heck of it.

They tried their best to kill each other sometimes............but never another living creature.

I myself have killed snakes. I lived in AZ and killed more than one rattler up by the house..............whole 'nother topic than breaking into cages at a zoo ;)

Oh yes, I definitely give you that. Much different and I think a therapist needs to intervene to prevent a situation like this happening again. But to jump on it and say he is a psychopath is what I dont agree with. As well as sending him to jail.

I remember seeing chickens being fed to gators on the discovery channel, so I am not sure if a 7 year old would see the big difference feeding zoo life to gators. Could be wrong but its just a thought.

Seconded!

Killing things is not a "for fun" activity. I don't care if it's snakes, frogs, or FLIES. It used to seriously bother me as a kid the one kid I knew who picked wings and legs off flies for fun.

Because most kids/people that hurt and torture animals move on to people....

But were the chickens dead? My guess would be yes.. and that they were killed humanely as food for the gator. AGAIN BIG DIFFERENCE.

Why do you have to make excuses for everything Reggin?
