That sounds like a blockage to me. If it happens at 4 hours each time it is at a certain point in digestion. Also, liver screen?

I am holding thumbs. I tried to watch the video but it was no longer available. I am so sorry. It sounds just aweful!

I am wondering if he has a soft obstruction. Meaning like a sock or something like that. Without being able to keep anything down, it would not be showing bowel gasses on a ultrasound. When was the last time the vet did a ultrasound? It sounds like to me its getting close to exploratory surgery but if something like that is in there, it would solve the problem. As your vet about it. A soft item ( like a sock) would not show up on a x ray- but would show up in the gasses around it. hmm...
We have not done an ultrasound yet. The x rays have shown nothing EXCEPT some abnormal gas patterns. Soooo if socks and things like that don't show up i'm wondering if that may be it. I know he doesn't eat my socks but maybe out in the bush he found a rag of some sort. Ultra sounds would have to be held downtown at a specialist so i will be getting more of the details on that today. I am heading out the door now with Zero and I will let you all know what happens today.
He slept through the night with no more vomiting.

you really need to. Mind you even if that goes fine if the tummy lining/intestines are torn up due to all the vomiting you reaaaally need to watch the liver and kidney values and for infections. Please make sure they watch those...ONLY good things to you and your pupper.

I didn't watch the video, but it sounds like a colicing horse........I wouldn't be surprised if there was a twist or blockage.
I would also stop feeding him anything, especially if he has been on I.V fluids.
I agree with others, your vet needs to step up on some testing or they need to send him to a larger clinic or Vet College.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I was wondering why they kept offering food too. Resting the tummy is what's needed. This dog I don't think is underweight and even a day or two without solids should be okay? Anyhow...all the best...only good things.

Yeah I was a little confused as to why they thought continuing to feed him would be a good idea, I stopped feeding him mostly because he just can't keep it down and there is no point to put him through that. He is definitely not under weight so he has been fine with no food. I know he has an appetite but poor thing shouldn't have to keep going through this.

He is at the vets now and I mentioned to the receptionist ( I really don't like them, they act so rude and think that i know NOTHING) about the barium and she said she will mention it to the doctor. I'm not sure how well that will work but i will be speaking to the vet later on today when the blood work comes in. Ugh i don't think i've ever been so stressed in my life. I appreciate all the support!

be firm...ask to speak with the vet.

I am getting frustrated for you because you should not get a "speak to the vet about it" THEY should have already done it! It's a very basic thing any vet clinic should be prepared to do when x rays are not conclusive and a dog is presenting with obstruction like symptoms. Like I said if nothing else...the Barium really soothes the tummy.

I am getting afraid for your pup and I really think if there is anyplace else to take him, esp a Vet College...you might consider it. :(

((hugs))

Thank you so much. I am very frustrated because they don't seem to understand the urgency. He seems all happy and "normal" but he's not. The vet himself is very good but i just need to speak with him in order to get anything done, if for some reason nothing comes out of today he's going to another place ASAP. I just have to figure this out. If anything happens to my dog heads are going to roll *after i faint*

:( I don't know what to say, hon, I really don't. (Except that your vets office deserves to meet a supersoaker of ice-cold water... ugh.)

I'm feeling for you guys right now, this is just terrible. Brings me back to when Ronin's sister ate a sock - for a second time - and nearly died. When I went to visit her at the ER vet, I thought she was a goner. But she defied all the odds and pulled through, bless her heart.

I wish you were closer to a univerity teaching hospital - I have a sense of security knowing I'm 5 minutes away from one, but I don't think you're close to one.

Methinks after this is through, you either need to find a vet clinic that cares about their patients a bit more.

I wish i was near a university vet too. I will have to research alot of options once he pulls through. My little guy is a trooper though, half the time you wouldn't know anything was wrong. I'm at work right now and all i can do is think about this situation. This vet is the place that saved my friends dog Calloway. That dog was a bernese mountain dog and he was the love of my life (before zero). He was on the verge of death when his owners went away, i went to visit him every day he was at the vet (a whole week) and they finally discovered it was addisons disease. So part of me has faith but the worried/protective mother side is ready to rip some heads off.

I didn't watch the video because I know it would be too hard for me to watch... just reading this thread makes me want to cry for you.
I agree with everybody, though... just make sure you stay assertive about the testing you want, and if you have to switch vets, do so. Poor little guy. Hopefully he pulls through just fine. =<
