What I find MOST saddening about this situation... is that it was widely publicized. Non-fatal bite to the face. Do you realize how many children are bitten in the face every year? I'm not positive about the numbers, but children are most commonly bitten, and the face is one of the most common places - because it's usually when the kid's face is in the dog's face, denoting that the child was being rude and unsupervised.
The first thing that came to mind, was our childhood Cocker Spaniel. He ripped a huge chunk out of my sister's cheek; probably ALOT worse than this bite. She needed 300 stitches. But, were news reporters knocking on our dog asking about the "vicious Cocker Spaniel"? No. Was he being euthanized? Nope. In fact, he went back to his breeder, and lived a long life with her.
It's just ridiculous that these cases are sensationalized... of course it's sad, but it happens, a lot, in all breeds. It's the result of an unstable dog and a bad situation, irregardless of the breed involved. I bet the dog wasn't even a Pit Bull! D:<
