And BTW: in your example neither Akita breed was created with being a guard dog in mind.
I wasnt aware I was speaking of one type of Akita over another. Please explain the difference if there is more than one recognised breed of Akita.

It is comparing an apple to an orange. An orange will always be an orange, even if you don't wnat them to be.
Are you speaking a language or just babling?

Then perhaps you should stop doing it.

People who know what a Fila is know what the fila is all about- the temperament, the true heart of the breed. What people who are uneducated about Filas do not need is someone like you mislabeling the breed and painting it like a monster. I'm not sure what you don't understand about that. This isn't rocket science. You have a misguided perception of the breed- this is how BSL starts so perhaps you should stop while the Filas are still ahead.
I know you want to believe that Fila's aren't guard dogs, but they are. Hatred of strangers is an essential component of Fila temperment. Sorry that you hate that fact, but denying it won't make it go away.

After this I'm going to stop feeding the troll.

Again... people are telling you what Filas are and you have your own idea and you are wrong.

I do not deny that my dog is a guard dog. I do not deny that she will protect me and my family. I do not deny what she is and what her breed is. I would be an idiot for doing so.

I do, however, deny your misconception of the Fila. You have made it clear that you do not know that which you speak of. You can quote whoever you'd like and you can claim that this and that breeder would say this and that, but the fact is that Filas are a guard dog. They are naturally protective of their family and have a strong aversion to strangers. They were originally bred to track and hold slaves back in the days. Notice I said track and hold.. they do not bite to kill. They are a breed that demands respect and love and that is not for any Joe Schmoe.

I love my dog and she rather enjoyed her trip with me to the pet store... she didn't kill anyone and she was on her best behavior. She did, however, kill her new toy when we got home.. it is now stuff-less and spread over the living room floor- oh, the horror!

Nice way to call names, what grade are you in? When you decide to act like an adult, perhaps your posts will matter.

I would cuddle Bella. I think I might be more inclined to try a slow approach to Buddy. He is your velcro boy and the one I think I might get a reaction from should I approach you too fast lol.

What I consider a "proper" Fila is one who knows exactly how much force is necessary to handle a situation and uses that amount of force - no more, no less.

Yes, I expect a LOT from my dogs, but I get it. Too many don't have high enough expectations of their Filas - they sell them short.

I am really sure that if you came onto the property of a Fila uninvited, the dog would just prance up to you with a soft mouth and gently lead by the hand off of the property. Whatever u say. :lol-sign:
Despite whatever you might think, I'm not stupid. If I know there is a dog on a property that isn't contained in the house or on a leash, I wait for the owners to come escort me from my car, be a yappy little ankle-biter, Fila or Labrador. Anyone who has an ounce of brains in their heads know that you just do not prance onto someone's property and not expect something. The first time I met Kharma, as much as I wanted to run up and give Renee a hug, I waited until we were all in the brightly lit house instead of out on the dark driveway, because again, I'm not an idiot. Then I let Kharma make her own decision about me and we became good friends. I've seen little bits and hints of the extreme speed, agility and power that is a Fila and I've no wish what so ever to be on the wrong end of it. Getting cornered by a dog is getting cornered by a dog and given the fact that every Fila over the age of 8 months outweighs me, they probably wouldn't so much as lead me off as pick me up ala the bouncer's "bum rush".

Who here is denying these dogs are guard dogs? Not one person. What we are denying is that they are attack dogs on steriods that will disembowel someone as soon as look at them. If your dog cannot distinguish between a true threat and Aunt Sally sitting in the parlor who just sneezed, then shame on you for raising your dog with poor comprehensive skills.

I also just keep coming back to the whole name of the Fila, which translates to "TO HOLD". They didn't call the dog the Matador "Killer" now did they?
