I feel like I have probably asked this before, but oh well....
So I'm house/pet sitting for a few days with Cobain and Rigby. This house has a resident Golden Retriever (whom is the same age as Cobain - they grew up together), and a cat.
I have never really owned a cat before due to my father's allergies. So my dogs aren't exactly familiar with the species. So every time I house sit here, I observe.
Cobain is weird around cats - curious, but also nervous. But cats seem to love him. The one here tonight will brush up against him, and him only, touch her nose to his, and then flop on her back. Cobain doesn't really seem to know what to make of it, but he will follow her - and chase a bit if she runs.
Rigby doesn't even acknowledge the cat's existence. The cat seemed pretty shocked when she walked past her on the stairs without a second glance. (Bonny the cat has a reputation for guarding the stairs from dogs). I have a feeling that if a cat were to hurt her she wouldn't be so nonchalant.
The resident dog doesn't interact with the cat at all.
Oz likes to chase cats, but is really afraid of them once they turn around. And although we were told Ruby lived with a cat and loved said cat, she is very barky and terrier-like around cats. I wouldn't trust her.
So I'm just curious.
