Red, while your observation on intact males with male owners may be true, it is NOT the case with me. I explained my reasons for leaving him intact above. Bruzer is neutered, and every dog I ever had, male or female, except for Gunnar was neutered. We made the decision based on research and information given to us by trainers, police trainers, and other people who have had exposure to both intact and neutered dogs and how it affected their growth. I also like his temperament, and I don't want to take any risk on changing it, for better or worse. So, I might never neuter him, but it has nothing to do with manhood.

My brother in law is EXACTLY as you describe. He has a horribly trained Jack Russell who marks, humps everything, and is only intact because he doesn't want him to lose his manhood.
Oh, I know Dan :lol-sign: I was just generalizing ;) . I am a female so I find it easier to neuter a male than most men would. Going by my experience of course. Just an FYI though.....neutering WON'T change Gunnar's personality for that is one of those myth's made up by men :lol-sign: :D

lol, maybe it was, but if it changed him one infinite bit, I'd be upset we did it.

We'll most likely get it done when he's about 3 or so. I want him to finish filling out and get that "bear" look, then we'll do it.

Very good post OC :) And I see your point, but also, you say that s/n can cause this and that, but NOT s/n can also cause problems, so I think you either want your dog s/n or not, not just because it can cause this and that. Did that make sense?

This is just IMO here, so LOL

For me, I would like to have working BCs in the future, and probably if they are a very good worker and representation of their breed, they will be left intact, inless some thing comes up, to where they have to be s/n. Or they will be s/n at maturity. Also, I would love to breed BCs in the future (FUTURE being the key word here;)) So most of my dogs will be left intact.

But I have NO problem with leaving a dog intact BUT they need to be VERY responsible with where and how they let there dog go places.

But I would like to fostor/train shelter dogs, and they will ALL be s/n before they go to there forever homes. :)

Lizmo, yes I totally understand you surprisingly enough LOL It took me a couple reads before it clicked though. You are deffinately right in that there are also benefits to neutering, I just posted the pros to leaving a dog intact because there is TONS of info on pro-neutering and very little on pro-intact. When I was doing some more internet research to be able to provide links instead of only ""I heard this from this person, and that from this other person and was told this by such and such"" the ration was roughly 15:1 of exclusively pro-neuter to sites that actually told both sides of the story accurately.
