What does it mean that Jude is suddenly sleeping in Jonahs crate?

Jude and Jonah are best buddies- it's been such a nice experience for Jude! I think he really enjoys and loves his little brother.

All of a sudden though, he's been sleeping in Jonah's crate when Jonah isn't in it that is in our living room. It all started 5 days ago when I took a random bed that I had in the house and put it in Jonah's crate- replacing Jonah's old bed. It was a bed I had out in the bedroom for Jude, but he never wanted to sleep on and barely has. Jude also has a very comfy big Orvis bed in the living room.

Is he doing this because he is territorial about the bed? Should I let him? Does he want a little safe spot too- should I get him a crate?

Thanks in advance! :)

Mine sleep in eachothers crates all the time. Logan likes Gavroche's little crate, Gavroche likes Logan's beds lol

Maddie and Bailey do that all the time, too :p
I almost put Maddie's crate back up just in case, but I decided not to. Between the couches, dog beds, and crate there's always somewhere comfy to lay, and they're never snarky about it ;)

Ya Bamm does it too. He sleeps in Cricket's crate all the time and actually prefers her crate even though her crate is too small for him. He likes cramming his body into that thing and snuggling up for a nap lol. Sometimes Cricket will even try and get in there with him and I've found them both in there asleep before

Is Jonah upset by Jude being in there? I would not do anything unless Jonah is wanting to go in and Jude is not letting him, or if it seems to be upsetting Jonah that Jude is in his bed.

No he doesn't seem upset- although once I did see Jonah go in and lay down and Jude stood there in the doorway kind of threateningly- just staring him down for awhile. You know me tho- always proactive over reactive so nothing escalates! :)

If Jude is staring at him threateningly, I would just call him over when Jonah is in there, and treat for laying down somewhere else.

Our pets are very personal about their "spots" in the house, wether its a crate or box or otherwise..
Personally, I would get Jude a crate but that's just me lol I love that everyone has a spot of their own and a place to go to where they can hide toys or whatever and no other pet can bother them and I think its nice for them (we really discouraged going into others spots that aren't yours early on)
I dunno, I think its a lot like having a bedroom..its a place that is only theirs.

That said, in the past, we have had a naughty dog/cat or two try to duck into another dogs crate or cats spot and there have been issues... giving them their sense of "my spot" does come with its own set of issues. When it comes to other animals, they are very MINE MINE MINE when it comes to their spots and get REALLY upset if another animal is in there and it has escalated to some growling and bickering before (but nothing major..)

So I would either get them used to sharing the crate, and encouraging them to be ok with eachother going in out..or working on Jude having his own lol

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it. I have an old one in my parents basement- I may consider getting it. Or I may just play it by ear for now! :)
