That's kind of my point though. that kids need to learn that there is a market for all kinds of jobs and you have to do what works of you. In my school you weren't going to amount to anything if you didn't go to university. There is a HUGE shortage of tradespeople in this province and most of them don't need an education adn they get paid more than most white colour jobs. I think that schools should have electrician, plumbing, mechanic... options in school for students to at least try there hand at and see if it works. Lots of people use their hands way better than their brains and trying to change that just doesn't work.
That sounds great. Just so long as it isnt the government who is handling it. I try to find one thing that the government does well. With the exception of collecting taxes I'm at a loss. Every business that is successful has an entirely different approach to budgeting funds.

I think sweden's gov't did things well for a long time.
In the young years they usually do well. I think You may find this of interest Saje.

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."

1787, Alexander Tyler. Had that to say about "The Fall of The Athenian Republic" some 2,000 years prior:

That was shortly after our Constitution was made (as Im sure you knew)

what we talked about in class was more along the lines of how different countries change their governing system every ... 200? ... years.

That is unless some other country takes it upon themselves to change it for them

oh well it's complicated but bascially it follows a formula that gives voters more say. And it gives other parties more of a chance.

it's worked well in other countries and during BC's last provincial election voters also voted on it. It doesn't look like it's goiing to go through though.

I wish we would try an experiment here. Give 5 or so candidates an hour a week for three months to debate and state their plans on public tv. Then have the election with no mention of their party. So the people couldnt be tied to a party and voting only because they are too lazy to research. No more voting for the lesser of two evils, time to elect someone worth a ****
