Not to sound ignorant, but can someone briefly explain the show names? I don't understand the long, odd names as opposed to what they actually call the dog. It's got something to do with the kennel that bred the dog, yes?

The first word (or in some cases the last word) is the kennel name. The rest is just whatever the owner wanted. Sometimes it has to do with the lineage but not always.

EX:

GCH Bugaboo's Picture Perfect

Bugaboo is the kennel name. GCH= grand champion

I'm watching this on DVR about 30 mins behind, and you're right the lab is... eh. I'm not even remotely well versed on standards but his head shape seemed... off AND he waddles which cracked me up.

(also, don't worry about spoilers becuase I'm 30 mins behind... I don't care)

There would be much confusion if there were a million "Buddy"s and "Chloe"s showing. :p The kennel name and 'phrase' just helps set an individual apart.
Also makes a lot of sense. I still stand by my dogs' "show names". :)

Also, love the Irish Setter. I considered getting one once, but yeah. I couldn't keep up with one.

Disappointed that Fifi the Dobe got completely dumped in the ring this morning without even an AoM or Select. That was just...wrong.

And holy FAT dogs, Batman! No wonder people think my conditioned dogs are emaciated.

People see Lucy and think she's too thin, but myself and my vet both know she's PERFECT. The obesity problem is not just a human one. My pit... yeah. fat.

Boo! So annoyed this isn't airing in Canada until later in the week. Well, unless I had channel 770. I wonder if it is because it is overlapping with the Olympics because I watched it live the last two years. Poo.
