Hello!

Does anyone here show in UKC? As the lappies aren't accepted by the AKC yet, most breeders show in the UKC.

Can anyone tell me about it?

Thanks!

I show regularly in UKC.

I'm not sure exactly what you would like to know, but UKC is a wonderful organization made up of wonderful people. We are all a big, friendly family, NOT the same environment you'll get at AKC shows. No professional handlers are allowed. All dogs are owner handled, getting rid of most all the politics you'll find in AKC. Saying that goes along with UKC is , "our dogs DO stuff". Meaning, UKC encourages and really wants people actually getting their dogs out doing what they were bred to do.

If you have any more specific qeustions, don't be afraid to ask.

Tessa said it all.
I got my breed into UKC years ago preferring them over AKC.
IT took hard work to get them out of rare breed.

UKC promotes ethically breeding, no HUNT corp connection, they have the BEST pedigrees in the USA that have DNA and Tattoo or chips on them.

I have done UKC shows for about 4 years.
In Ohio, Canada, NY and Premier in MI.

I have shown Kangals, CAS, Co's, Chinooks, Neo's DDBX to name a few with them.

And well we made history with UKC with the first CHampion, first Grand, etc etc.

So can you tell I like UKC?

Next year we will run our first UKC show.

I ring steward at the Canadian shows..
Learning the difference between FCI UKC and Rare breed.

Thanks!

Wow...thanks for all of the information! I'm glad I came back!

OC Spirit- Lovely, aren't they? I like them because they have beauty, brains and brawn. Not every breed can herd reindeer! Most of the spitz breeds are all hair, with out good ability. My keeshond mentor has had many of her dogs do great things in the agility ring, but she is one of the few.

Tessa- yes, I've noticed that AKC dog shows can get a bit...nasty...As a new handler (I've shown my bitch at four shows) you really have to watch out what advice you take from other handlers/owners. They won't hesitate to give you bad advice so that you and your dog end up competing badly. It's nice to hear that there is a more friendly atmosphere there.

I would REALLY like to do agility and maybe try some herding trials. However, I know nothing about herding.

Lucky for me, I live close to a great group of people who do agility. When my bitch is old enough, she and I will hopefully join their group!

Molossor- I really love chinooks. The ones I've met have just been sweet all around good dogs. The rest of the breeds you mentioned I have no idea what they are. But that's OK, most people don't know what a lapphund is, either.
