Haha, supposedly he was hiding in a box in the attic, afraid he was going to get in trouble.
Lol I was discussing this with my dad 1/2 hour ago and that's what we thought must've happened... it was either that or the whole box thing.

Kids, eh? I bet his parents are weeping with joy.

Wow...glad he's safe, but boy is he going to be in trouble!
LOL I thought so too! Reminds me of the time that Emily decided to hide in the mall and we had the security guards searching for her and people on the intercom saying she was missing. When we found her (she was playing hide and seek ) my mom grabbed her and started crying then she got a BIG lecture lol.

Hmmm . . . call me a cynic, but I think that family is pulling some shenanigans. In an interview kid says "we did it for the show" . . . I think they got a dose of fame on "Wife Swap" and are hungry for another fifteen minutes.

Look at this video clip with the kid + parents--the parents are totally prompting his answers.

YouTube - "Balloon Boy" Falcon Henne Admits: "We Did This For The Show"

Edit: And the follow up (after a commercial break, perhaps?)

YouTube - Balloon Boy's Father To CNN: "I'm Appalled At You!"

Yeah, my opinion is now solidly "liar, liar" when it comes to the dad. Wow, watch him squirm.

Yeah I saw that interview live. It definitely didn't sound good. Kid's say the darndest things, don't they?

If it is a hoax, I hope it comes back and bites the dad in the butt. They had to shut down the airport for this!

I did that once when I was 4! But in the super market.(Huge supermarket on 2 floors) I ended up finding my way to the information desk, when the lady asked what my name and age was, all I answered was a stubborn, no. The lady said through intercom that she has a little girl around 3 or 4 years old who wont say her name. My mom knew right away who it was.

If it is a hoax, then the parents should have to reimburse emergency response and volunteers for the time and resources used during the search.

Completely agree. The effort put forth to find that little donkey was IMMENSE... I hope it wasn't a hoax.

It's going to be a bigger deal than than...they had to re-route air traffic at DIA for almost an hour because of this.
