I'm in a LTR, own my own home with a fenced in yard, have transportation, time, training experience, dog and cat experience, train using positive reinforcement, feed quality food, and am not gone for long hours. I'm basically a perfect candidate for a puppy or dog.

Rescues I've applied with are falling all over themselves to place fosters with me, and if I wanted to adopt I would have a dog right now. As it is I had an expedited home visit yesterday, and we're talking fosters today.

Haven't had a positive response yet from a breeder. And I've been working on that 2x longer than the rescue stuff.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is the universe giving me the not so subtle hint that this isn't the right time, because in my experience I'm usually horribly disappointed and frustrated by something, only for something awesome to happen down the road after I've given up on the thing I was so concerned by.

This doesn't make me feel even the slightest bit better about it, because I want to be on a wait list with a reputable breeder about five minutes ago. It takes forever to get a puppy, and that probably works if you already have dogs, but I've been dog less for a month and I'm DYING.

Maybe the world is trying to tell you that perfect dog will be a rescue? ;)
I don't want a rescue, though. At all. The breed I want NEEDS to come with health testing for me to make the commitment.

It is really weird that my foster has the same name I was going to pick for my future dog, but she is NOT staying permanently.

Trade you. I have all the breeder puppies at my fingertips but none of the components of "this is the responsible time for this leap".

You have no breeds I'm interested in.. :/

So I inquired with another breeder and got a response within an hour. A FRIENDLY response within an hour. Is think what it's supposed to be like? I feel like the Lab puppy at the party who is all friendly and gets kicked away by party-goers. I think over a week with no response is an issue,, and that does make me wonder quite a bit.

Mutt, maybe pittie mix?

Flickr and Facebook. I don't post photo threads on Chaz any more. SO much effort and I get maybe 6 comments for taking 1hr to post + editing time. More of my followers on Flickr comment and favorite them, and Flickr takes two seconds. Facebook takes three seconds and everyone seems to see them. It's not worth it to me any more. :/

When I was emailing Rottweiler breeders, I got so many non-replies or completely shitty replies from breeders who are supposed to be top notch. (One such breeder basically made me feel like an inadequate human being who didn't deserve a pup from her because none of HER pups were EVER pet quality.)
Labrador breeders, it seemed like the only people who cared were the ones that were breeding more on the pet or hunting side of things vs strictly show.
I think every Chessie breeder I emailed got back with me quickly and had no issues talking about their dogs/speaking with me about the breed/truthfully saying if they thought their breeding program matched what I wanted. Well, all but one, and they said that I should *never* put a timeline on wanting a pup and that I seemed too eager to have a puppy. Mmm. Because wanting to bring a pup home after graduation and before your fiance leaves for 7 months of training so he can help with the first month or two is ill planning. I'm sorry it was last minute. Military lifestyle makes things unplannable. Anyways.

In short: not every breeder is nice, even if they have all of the "qualifications" on paper.

And recently I was basically offered a very well trained adult in the breed I want. She's IPO I titled. She might be way more dog than I'm actually looking for. And has a couple issues I'm leary about, not in the least that there may be a lack of health testing, and I don't want a dog that will drop dead in three years. So I'm going to meet her and such, but I'm really hesitant about the whole situation to the point where I would need to do a 1-2wk trial period. There are just some things that make me wonder if she would work for our household, and I flat out will not pay for a dog of this breed unless I have some assurance of health testing.

Yeah, I'm willing to take second choice in breed for an AMAZING breeder with healthy dogs that have great temperaments. color and coat isn't important when it comes to that.

I Just think it sucks that people are like this. It's ridiculous. I'm perfect on paper, and in reality I'm a great dog owner. Probably better than some of the show homes they have lined up. I'm not perfect, but if I kept the most annoying, drooly, stupid dog on earth for his whole life I WILL keep your puppy for life, it will never end up in a shelter, and it with always be treated well. Why the heck would someone not respond or be unfriendly? With one breeder I'm apparently am not the only person who got that response, and why you'd treat two referrals that way is beyond me, but we are obviously NEVER going to click so I'm not a good match there anyway.

Yeah some breeders really suck on like... a personal level. Before we got Cajun we were on a waiting list with a dobe breeder, and she was amazing at getting back quickly and very friendly, easy to talk to. And seemed like she genuinely wanted me to have one of her puppies. It was nice! But definitely doesn't always go that way with breeders. Likewise with rescues too, for that matter.

Was going to ask if the breed was a GSD (or a Doberman or Beauceron or Riesenschnauzer?)? It really can be a mixed bag with GSD breeders.

I'm thinking Doberman? I think I remember her talking about wanting one a while back. Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else :p

And Nolu, I hope you are able to get in contact with a breeder you like! It super sucks that you are being treated this way :(

No ****. That's the best offer I think I'll get. A Carma baby is a LOT of dog.

I'm flattered, actually even if you were joking I'm still flattered, but I would not be the right person for a puppy from her. If I thought I would be, you'd probably already have a deposit from me. I can't wait to see the puppies when they're born, though, and hopefully one will go home to a Chazzer.

So frustrated with work I could scream. Walked in this morning to a hose on and spraying water everywhere and no watering-guy in sight. Pallets of seed weighing 2700 lbs each blocking my (fire exit) door that Im supposed to open. Massive struggle to haul them up a slight incline to the other side of the department. Idiot lost the keys again, had to page a manager to open my doors so I could smile at the angry customers clustered around the entrance waiting for me to open. and then a shitstorm of neverending lines for 8 hours while I dont even have time to take my eyes off my the counter in front of me, while somebody sticks their head in every 10 minutes and asks why havent I dont XYZ yet, when I am literally the only staff in the ENTIRE DEPARTMENT FOR AN ENTIRE DAY.

HIRE SOMEBODY, LIKE 6 SOMEBODIES, YOU **** STAINS. I CAN NOT DO THE WORK OF 4 PEOPLE.

The artist formerly known as boyfriend makes it really hard for me to stay away. Like I think I need to split across the country so I don't let myself go back to him before we've gotten our **** together.

This whole thing is so ****ing weird I can't wrap my brain around it. Right now I haven't even been to the hospital to see him but we text each other as much as he can with a piece of bullet behind his eye. like I think we're almost friends. I hope we can be friends.

See I'm already wanting to keep tabs on him so we can give it another try someday. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME.

I NEED THERAPY
