The fresh snow and the sun (well, sort of) meant the camera got a workout today. Meg's shots are posted, so here are some of the horses.

Our diamond-in-the-rough lesson pony. Pulled out of a pen of 80+ horses; he is so darn cute!

Some shots I took of my friend's stallion. Black is apparently hard to take pictures of in every species!

This one was an accident, but I kind of like it.

Two of the cutest ponies alive, clearly plotting something evil like cookie stealing.

Tristan and his buddy were clearly not interested in running around for me. The prefer majestic posing.

I finally inspired a bit of a trot out of him.

Standing still and looking noble is really more his cup of tea.

My favorite filly from this year (with a nice fat hay belly).

Such a pretty evening.

Okay, I swear I'm done posting pictures for at least 24 hours now!

Umm, yeah. Nine years into owning him, and I'm still kind of figuring out how to ride it!

Yours are gorgeous.
Thank you, although I should clear up, Tristan is actually the only one that is mine. The schoolie and the black stallion are at the barn I manage; the others were taken at my trainer's farm where Tristan lives.

WOW - the shots of the black stallion are amazing.
Isn't he cool? Not a breed I had ever taken notice of before, but the woman I work with breeds them. If every gelding and mare were as well-behaved as that stallion, my job would be a lot less dangerous! I'm not sure how much is temperment and how much is training, but he's an absolute gentleman.

Thanks for the compliments - trust me, there will be more pictures soon. I'm having way too much fun with my new lens!

Absolutely gorgeous all of them!!! Lovely, lovely horses, and beautiful pictures too.

The black stallion reminds me a bit of a Morgan stallion down at the barn Mandy used to be at, here are a few pics of him. He is just a young guy(I believe four this year...three in these pictures):

Ok so what breed is he? (its hard to make guesses from that pic)
Oh, come on - you don't recognize one from your homeland ;)? He's a Canadian Horse.

Good guess! According to my friend, they are supposed to be similar in type to the older style Morgans. That stallion is gorgeous!

Wow!... I can has the first two horses please? K thanks!
Some days, you could have the first one! Nothing like sending a three-year old, very smart and impressionable pony to do a summer at a riding camp for instilling some seriously less-than-stellar behaviors. We've had him four years or so, and he still remembers all the tricks!

LOL that would have been my guess, but I while they are a popular amateur dressage horse here I guess I wasn't expecting to see them outside of Canada :D

Oh and for the morgan reference. mtDNA and historical data is showing that morgan breed derived come from the "Canadien" (correct french term for the breed) horse.
