I have to agree with this.

I mean for example.... I love Ellen. She is hilarious and she looks like she would be so much fun. I don't care that she is gay because she doesn't care that she is gay. She is who she is. She doesn't feel the need to scream it from the rooftops and make EVERYONE accept it. She just lives her life for herself. (not in the selfish way) She doesn't care what anyone else thinks she just does her own thing.

NOW Rosie O'donnel is a whole other story. I think she claims to be gay just because it gives her a little more power because she is a "minority" now. Not only is she a woman but she is also gay :O She has to make sure EVERYONE knows it and if they don't accept it they better be ready to hear a whole lot of b*tching from her. She is a whackjob.

I have no problem with Gay people. I have known many. BUT when it changes who you really are then its a problem. When you start focusing on making people accept what you are instead of just living your life. THAT'S when it is a problem.

However, I in no way am saying that is what you are doing. Your question is quite valid :D I am just saying that there are different "types" of homosexuals. I am all for one kind but not so much for the other kind.(see A) and B)
I admire both Ellen and Rosie. I think people like Rosie are proud to be gay and they use their 'celebrity' status to bring awareness. There are still a lot of people who are homophobic or who just can't wrap their mind around the concept. Rosie is very active in children's rights and I was very proud of her when she stood up for that gay couple in Florida? who weren't allowed to adopt their foster children.

I am hetero, and I only know one person who is gay, a relative of mine. He's really cool.

I can't stand people who act homophobic. It's pretty bad in high school. In one day I can easily count hearing "that's so gay" and "f@ggot" four times. Every time I hear something like that, I want to scream at the person. I mean, I'm sure most of them don't have a personal problem with homosexuals, but they're just not thinking. They don't understand that there are people struggling with openly admitting they're homosexuals because they're worried about the way they will be treated (and rightfully so). I don't understand why it is so hard for some people to accept homosexuality. If it's a consenting relationship, whether it be between man and woman, woman and woman, man and man, and nobody's being hurt, there is nothing wrong.

I agree with you Dani...people have to watch what they say in today's open society. I"m also so aware of it having a grandson with Down Syndrom ...words like retard..etc really are hurting.People don't choose to be born with different genes and chromosomes.

I'm not gay or anything. My one brother in law is though and a couple of my friends in high school were too (although I think they were just trying to be "cool" because making out with girls was the "cool" thing to do to attract boys back then).

while sometimes it's certainly looking for acceptance, i don't think it always is, especially not on internet forums.

i think of it more along the lines of looking for people with common ground, like asking if someone lives in the same city/state, went to a particular school/college and so on.

I think it is nice to know that there is other "family" out there screw what any Prejudice comment anyone may have, be proud. Prejudice is just people being scaried of what they don't understand.
Main Entry: 1prej·u·dice

1 : injury or damage resulting from some judgment or action of another in disregard of one's rights; especially : detriment to one's legal rights or claims
2 a (1) : preconceived judgment or opinion (2) : an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b : an instance of such judgment or opinion c : an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics

we are all better than that:) It is as dumb as laws prohibiting blacks and whites from marrying that used to be, we all know better we are all people .

I'm sure there are other gay people on that forum. Isn't it estimated that 10 % of the population is gay? Most people probalby don't want to be outed. Especially since many people on this forum seem rather reserved and get heated about their views.

Key words duh but to the mature ones.

Any way to Saje true but me there is more then just being gay to me. In addition, I hate when girls think all gay girls want them.

In addition, they are never to young. Yea you can be born gay or bi due to a chemical imbalance and another thing I hate when they say you cannot when they know nothing.

However, I dislike when grown ass parents do it in front of there kids. Wait until they get in middle school when they learn about it.

I just don't understand why gays need everyone to know that they are gay?
Is it a need of acceptance?
I don't care if they do or do not they can go were the sun don't shine. I just ask due to it was on my mind.

I knew a family with a daughter and 2 sons. As adults , everyknew the girl was gay ...the boys , straight. 1 boy married and had a son and 2 daughters. The other boy had 2 boys and a girl. It wasn't until all were in their late 20s and all boys came out of the closet. None of the boys had shared with the brother or the cousin. It definately is in the makeup or Genes.

Whats really sad is the fact that you have these super-Christians running around damning all homosexuals. Alot of it comes from the Southern Baptist Convention-Read: Hardcore anti-gay folks. And the SBC is the main religion of the U.S. 90% percent of folks I know are Baptist with the other 10% being of some other denomination such as Methodist, Assembly of God, Nazarene, Catholic, etc. Im not knocking on the church as the church has made its stance known on homosexuality for centuries now. And their are some people in the church that are straight as a board, but are OK, and even friends with homosexuals.

And in recent years I have seen a wave of Gay Christian Churches coming about. Sounds to me like homosexuals want to be Christians, but they have a hard time fitting in due to their sexual preference. Shame on the Christians that have shut them out from "God's Love" and "fellowship" due their homophobic nature.

Ellen and Rosie have used their celebrity status to bring awareness to gay acceptance in America, but are not the only ones. Heres a few some that may surprise you, some that wont:
Daniel Petronijevic (ESPN's Playmakers)
Christopher Rice (Author)
David LaChepelle (Artist)
Gus Van Sant (Filmaker)
Sigfried Fischbacher (Sigfried & Roy)
Roy Horn (Sigfried & Roy)
Stephen Gately (Boyzone)
George Micheal (Musician)
Micheal Stipe (Musician, R.E.M.)
Anderson Cooper
Melissa Ethridge (Actress)
the Indigo Girls
Nathan Lane (Actor)
Christopher Lowell
Barry Manilow (Musician)
Sinead O'Connor (Musician)
David Hyde Pierce
George Takei (Star Trek- old series)

I think the more celebrities bring homosexuality to the front page, I think the rest of America will learn to accept it. Maybe once more and more celebrities bring awareness to the community, perhaps the church will stop condemning them. The Episcopalian (sp?) is already opening their doors to gays, Im waiting for the day the SBC does as well.

Lets all learn to love one another and stop with the stereoypes. :)

Not unlike your "super-christian" label. Just what is that supposed to mean anyway?

Now, you say....

Im not knocking on the church as the church has made its stance known on homosexuality for centuries now.
but then say....

Sounds to me like homosexuals want to be Christians, but they have a hard time fitting in due to their sexual preference. Shame on the Christians that have shut them out from "God's Love" and "fellowship" due their homophobic nature.
What??? You contradict yourself in the space of a few sentences. A Christian stance on Homosexualtiy has ZERO to do with "homophobia". Homosexuality is a SIN, period. I fight SIN, not the sinner. I have no problem with homosexual people, but I am against homosexuality. I do not believe it is genetic or anything physical, it is a choice....

Don't preach to ME about "God's love". Your statements prove just how little you know about what Christianity is all about. All you do is go with what the press tells you to think...

I hate the SIN.... NOT the SINNER.

I think the more celebrities bring homosexuality to the front page, I think the rest of America will learn to accept it.
So, you go to Hollywood to tell you what to think? Nice...

The Episcopalian (sp?) is already opening their doors to gays, Im waiting for the day the SBC does as well.
I am all for opening the doors of churches to homosexuals. If anyone needs to be there, it is them. BUT, any "christian" church that would allow a practicing homosexual into its clergy ranks... Is not really a Christian church. The Bible is CLEAR on the issue.

Lets all learn to love one another and stop with the stereoypes. :)
No sterotyping here. Homosexuality has DIRECTLY impacted my family. So PLEASE think before you label me a homophobe or whatever you are thinking about after you read what I post.
