his trademark whale-call noises into the couch cushions. Could the universe even continue to exist if he had another wrinkle to derp with? Wouldn't that break some sort of fundamental law of physics?
Astro speaks whale too? Him and Menchi could converse in honks and whale-song. It would be a thing of beauty. Like one of those whale noise serenity tapes :D

I think many people can make a sport rescue prospect go very well (SaraB comes to mind).
I will say that "sport rescue prospects" vary widely. Very, very widely. Part of it is just different sports looking for/emphasizing different attributes. And part of it is the tendency of a lot of folks to label any nutty dog or dog or a particular physical type a sport prospect.

Many of the highly successful sport rescues I know where chosen with every bit as much care as a breeder puppy. Which helps. A lot.

I just looked up the local bus rules when it comes to pets.

Small dogs on laps or "certified specialty dogs" allowed.
They don't say service animals.
Definition of specialty: a pursuit, area of study, or skill to which someone has devoted much time and effort and in which they are expert.
My dogs are specialty agility dogs? I wonder if that counts :p

I have a car so it's a moot point, but still.

Uhh... I can't say I've heard of that term used before.

I admit defeat, I sent a PM about him. If I wind up suffocating to death under a pile of wrinkly dogs vying to be pet, I blame this forum and the enablers that inhabit it.
You need to do this.

Yeah..yes. Also, watching the facebook action on some dogs currently in shelters, people got flamed a lot for asking about characteristics such as toy drive or biddability. "If you want a dog, why does it need to be a "champion" agility/sports dog? You wouldn't adopt the dog if it didn't like toys? Poo poo on you, you don't deserve a dog". Meh. I think if you found the right rescue (or person in rescue to help) it would work, but I'm not sure how many would tolerate people wanting to evaluate their dogs for a sports prospect primarily. I feel like a breeder "gets" that better. I could definitely be wrong but that seems to be what I have come across.

The difference between ACDs and Collies.

Fiona ENJOYS the toy on the flirtpole smacking her on the sides and it drives her crazy and I slam it on the ground and she twists and jumps and leaps and sprints to get it. The toy gets flicked into the side of her head and it's the best thing ever. You cannot get her off the flirtpole if she gets it, unless you cue her.

Shelby thinks it is interesting and hops around trying to figure out what to do with it despite it being around since she was a puppy. "Yay let me bound around after this thing and then when I can get it...sniff it suspiciously!". And then Shelby manages to bite the handle but it's plastic and she wasn't expecting this trickery so the game is over, thank you very much. :rofl1:

Glad I'm not the only one who worries about breaking puppies lol.

So since I vented about the dogs yesterday, I feel like today I need to gush about them. We had a very relaxing walk where we passed by other dogs, kids riding bikes, a group of people playing basketball, blah blah blah and they (Juno and Cajun) were like "meh, whatever." It really is kind of cool to have the 2 of them, one on each side, walking politely at my side. They attract a lot of comments. One guy today had some small dog he was walking and as we walked by, he stopped, watched us for a bit and then said to his dog "that's how you're supposed to be behaving" lol.
Granted, Cajun is still at a point where I need a pocket full of treats so I can FEEDFEEDFEED when a distraction comes up, but I consider it impressive that her focus can be maintained even with treats.

Cajun is doing GREAT at learning how to use her feet and is now able to even jump up on the benches at the baseball field. A couple days ago that was too high and difficult. The few times she does slip a little bit, she's able to correct herself and NOT fall off. That's progress.

Also, I love it when my treats are rationed out perfectly during a walk, and I hand out the last treat right as we're arriving home.

Oh, he is fluent in Whale. He's also pretty good at the Old Man Wheeze, and all manner of assorted pig sounds (snorts, grunt, squeals). What he isn't fluent in, is Dog...he's still confused and horrified when his species actually BARKS too much in his vicinity

You need to do this.
I have to move! Get set up in my new job!

Time will tell. I want to meet a weigh my options carefully, and there are a lot of possibilities I'm trying to work through right now.

I have, they mean service dogs but are too lazy to look up the proper term. :p
Oh I know lol, just thought it was funny :p

On another note, someone on our local dog park page posted that she has to get rid of her 2 year old Malinois because she's changing jobs. Crazy breed rehomes always make me nervous.

Oh and my relatives are bragging that the vet said their 26lbs obese cat is "totally healthy" the thing can barely move.

You can certainly find awesome rescue dogs out there, but it takes a lot of dedication to finding what you want, just like finding the right breeder. I think people get into this mindset that it's not difficult to find a sport rescue, just adopt any old border collie or sporty looking mix or whatever. But there's so much more that goes into it than breed. And if you do manage to find the dog that seems to fit right away, there are factors that can pop up later that suddenly makes morphing that dog into a superstar more difficult. I have four rescue sport dogs right now. One of which I'm willing to rehome to the right home (anyone want an adorable quirky redhead who has foundations built on frisbee and agility and is starting to jump off the dock??), just because we don't flow well together. She has everything I want theoretically, but that connection is still not there after several months of work. The average person would be able to spend an additional several months to make it work, but that's not the luxury I get, unfortunately.

That all being said, you can pour your heart and soul into the right breeder dog and end up with a dud anyway. However, I truly believe those are the dogs that make great trainers, but that's another story.

So, I posted picture of a Border Collie on "Guess The Breed" Facebook page.I left for work,& now there's a full fledged debate on whether or not it's a Border Collie.

If you really want to watch people go mental, post a bully-ish looking dog and call it a pit bull.
Yep. Or wolfy.

I just follow that group for entertainment purposes.

DO YOU HAVE PAPERS

I have never seen anyone in any other breed be so vehement about the fact that if you don't have PAPERS then it's not (x) breed. If you find a GSD in a shelter, it's a GSD. A golden is a golden. But a bully type never has ANY APBT. NONE. UNLESS YOU HAVE PAPERS TO PROVE IT, IT CANNOT BE EVEN PART APBT. IMPOSSIBLE.
