It's actually not bad at all. They only feel a bit tender if I squint really hard, other than that there's hardly any swelling and they feel pretty good.

I still look like a hooker though....:rofl1:

See, if I'd gotten them, I would have made them go to the corners of my eyes to avoid the hooker look lol. Then again, that's more time in pain under the needle! But whenever I do eyeliner I have to have it to the corners of my eyes or I look strangely like a raccoon :p

They can't actually go right to the corners because the ink can migrate and cause you problems, especially on the inside (tear duct) corner. I wanted her to go as far as she could on the inside and outside without making my eyes look small, which happens if you carry the lines too far.

I can't wait until it's healed. It's so much more subtle and thinner than it looks the first week... It actually peels off and you're left with lines about 1/3 the thickness and quite a bit lighter.

My eyes are huge... Like, people have called me an anime character before. Perhaps that's the reason I can do so much eye liner *ponders* Still, looks awesome!

I can't wait until it's healed and not so dang dark, harsh and thick. It will be so much thinner and lighter and while I know this....I'm having fits of horror every time I look in the mirror...:yikes:

the way tattoos work is the dye is injected into the dermal layer (the layer which doesnt "renew" during the tattoo however the ink also gets into the epidermal layer (which of course renews and "sheds")
as the tattoo heals the epidermal layer (which remeber is holding ink from the tattoo) will "scab" (though it looks more like a peeling sunburn than a real scab) and then peel off...as it peels off any dye in the epidermal layer comes away with it, (yes it peels off whatever color the tattoo under it is...i had fun seeing the many colors of skin on my bed after each of mine lol it was like one realy gross rainbow :p)
of course as that layer peels it is replaced by a new layer of healthy skin, this new layer however does NOT have the ink to stain it, which essentially causes a layer of "clear" skin over the top of the actual tattoo...(which acts almost as a filter on a camera, softening the entire thing slightly, lightening it a little and generally the outerlines are much smaller than they origionally look)

so while they may not decrease dramatically id expect the eyeliner to end up 2/3rds to 1/2 its current line width... and should look softer and much more natural/like its just eye pencil...

:)

i always found the way tattoos work and heal quite interesting, the skin is an amazing organ!

i think it looks realy bold and actually very cool as is, but its going to look realy stunning as it softens. :)
and btw you have very nice eyes with or without the eyeliner :D

Thanks for explaining it SO much better than I could have. This is exactly what I meant when I said that I KNOW it'll be much thinner and lighter once it's healed.

The last time I had it done, many years ago now, I remember how worried I was when I saw how dark and thick it looked right after she finished the tatoo work AND THEN how sad I was to see just how thin and light it ended up 7-10 days later.

I asked her to go a tiny bit more intense this time but that I still just wanted it right in my lash line. She also went with a grey/black color on the bottom to soften the lower liner even more.

I'm anxious to see what the end result will be this time. :)

Very cool.. You must have nerves of steel Doc! I'm not sure I could let someone get that close to my eye with a whole load of needles.. And I HAVE tattoo's.. I'm not at all wimpy, but still.. Right by my eye!

Having said that, I haven't worn make-up for over a year, so it would hardly be worth it for me anyway! LOL!.. Generally speaking, the horses don't care if I am made up or not! ;)
