I don't want to hijack this thread, but I also don't want to start a new one. I've heard of people posting Craigslist ads asking for freezer-burned/unwanted meat. Do any of you guys do this? Is it successful?
I don't because my freezer is already full and Frodo only eats 5-6oz a day. If I had a big dog, HECK YES I would!

I may have to take a look into that CL thing. I might be able to find some game meats for Rock to try and not spend too much on them.

Heck yes! I've gotten around 350lbs. of free meat (mostly venison) from CL :)
Yes! I think I stole Kady's wording too  and got more venison than I could even take, thanks to getting in contact with a wild game butcher who knew about raw feeding. I also got a few hits from people who had old venison roasts from last year.

Also a lot of allergy dogs are not allergic to the real raw food form of whatever they are allergic too as far as protien in kibble. Just throwing that out there. I'd worry about warm/cold foods once she is transitioned fully. I have heard people say that works.
Very true. I have a cat who can't eat chicken based kibbles (he loses fur and scratches like crazy), but he can eat raw chicken with no problem.

I switched my dogs to raw cold turkey. Started them on chicken and slowly introduced other stuff. My biggest issue in the beginning was the bile barfs. To curb that I give them a little dog biscuit before bed or in the morning so that their don't have the bile build up in an empty stomach.

It can seem really overwhelming at first, but after awhile it becomes almost as easy as feeding kibble and you'll wish you made the switch a long time ago!
