It may have been a mild fit.

Just got back from the vet. They think shadow may have had a mild fit. :(

She was terrified in the vets office, shaking, tail between her legs, ears flat, very submissive. I explained everything that had happened.

Yesterday evening when we came home, shadow was her usual bouncy self, she was going mental zooming round, playing with her ball, when she stopped playing and got all scared. Acting how I described before, ears flat, stooping down, tail between her legs. Everytime I went near her to see if she was ok, she run over to lee, and scramble away from me. Earlier on in the day, I didnt see her standing next to me and I opened the living room door, it banged into her and made her yelp, I told the vet this, i thought maybe she'd banged it again when she was playing and it made her remember me banging the door against her and it made her scared. The vet checked her over, and didnt think that was it, she said something had definately scared the hell out of her, she said it could have been a noise we couldnt hear, or even a smell i brought in with me, and thats why she was scared. Or it could have been a mild fit. And it really scared her, we think she may have kept going over to lee, because the 1st time she ever got hurt (stung by a bee) he was the first one to get to her, and he carried her home. And stayed with her and babied her. She was simular after she had her spay, wanted nothing to do with me, just wanted lee. So that could be it.

We just have to keep an eye on her, if she does it again, it is more than likely fits, and they'll have to run tests (again). This is a nightmare, she needs to be calm and settled and we going away tommorrow. I am really stressed out about this. We bought a plug in pheramone thing, that the vet said should calm her down. The vet said cos its only 5 days we'll be away for she'll be ok. I dont want to go now. I am really stressing. :(

Shadow really sorry to hear all that. The DAP might help but it may take some time to kick in, must say I'd be like you and not want to leave her at this time. If its not fit and I really hope it isnt, hopefully she'll calm down and forget whatever scared her. You could also try a few drops of rescue remedy in her water if she still seems frightened.

Hope it all turns out ok! Will be thinking of you!

Oh and Im visiting south wales in a couple of weeks!

Thanks, I havent heard of "rescue remedy" is it like "kalms" that human take?

I really hope it isnt fits, my poor girl has been through enough in her short life as it is. Shes already had load of tests done.

But Im not going to think about that Im not going to "borrow trouble" as the saying goes.

Where in south wales are u visiting? Are u from the UK?

Rescue remedy is a herbal calming liquid you can get from any health food shop, we use it on one of our dogs during firework season. Definitely dont borrow trouble, see how she goes.

Also, you've been super uptight and worried about leaving her with your b.f's parents while you're gone. You've been stressing over this for days. Dogs are so keenly intuned to our moods. She may well be picking up on yours and reacting in an insecure way. It sounds like you have a tight relationship with her and if she senses her main caretaker to be uneasy or frightened, she is likely to respond in that way herself and think something is wrong with you, so she backs off from you because of a fearful feeling in association with you, not because she doesn't like you. Or....did you ever notice her having anything like a seizure? Any staring, freezing up, involuntary shaking all over? I hope not. I hope the vet can come up with something when you get back.

I'm probably too late in writing all this, as you're leaving tomorrow, but I do hope you can enjoy your trip and try not to worry too much. (((hugs)))
