Snipe jumped into the official pool at the dockdogs trial today - she's going to do it "for reals" tomorrow or Sunday! :D She's still hesitant and is pretty much just sliding in, so she'll be jumping in Novice most likely - so we even have a shot at getting into Finals with Novice. Very cool!

So cute! Good girl Snipe!

Can they wear their life vests jumping "officially"? And is it pretty normal to accept them wearing them for practice jumps? There is going to be a dock at agility regionals, and if Gusto keeps being so brave about the water, I kind of want to try.

Awesome! Congrats, and good luck 'for reals'!

I went to one last weekend actually with Romeo. He jumped twice at practice, although he couldn't figure out how to get out of the pool...and ended up bailing over the sides. Then at the last practice run, and during competition, he balked. I'm not sure if he got nervous from not being able to get out, or if it was the intercom, or what. There's a practice pool 2 hours away and I'm considering if I want to continue this.

BB, yes, in dockdogs they can jump wearing a vest in competition - I've seen several dogs jumping while wearing vest (a corgi most recently). Snipe didn't need her vest by the end of the day yesterday, so she jumped wearing her official team swimsuit instead. :) I'm one of the few people who has a vested dog on the dock as part of acclimation, but there are a few others and I've never gotten any weird reactions from anyone, just a few questions about why she's vested.

crazedACD: yea panicking about being able to get out can def throw a new dog. The more practice they get, generally the more confident, though!
