Both of my dogs are shadow dogs. As I type this, I'm covered in a dane and a zuma. I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
Oh, you mean him crawling up into your lap and basically hiding you from trying to get so close means he... wants... to be near you?

I don't get it...

:yikes:

Mu used to be a serious shadow dog. She'd follow me everywhere and have a snit if she got stuck anywhere other than her crate. Recently though she's been a bit more independent. If I'm downstairs or in the kitchen she'll occasionally go sleep on the sofa in the other room. She still waits for me outside the bathroom when I shower though. And if I leave her behind a gate (even if Matt is with her) she pitches a fit. But, when we go to my parent's house she won't let me out of her sight. And if I do leave she follows my mom around and pokes her lol.

Tipper will follow me from room to room but she's not quite as intense about it. She only follows me because every time I move she's convinced that this will be the time that I FINALLY let her outside. So basically, she's just an eternal optimist that follows me around so she can get to her true love - being outside.

Murphy is only a shadow dog when he thinks I'm going to leave him. If I'm packing up to go somewhere he will hover nearby and look super concerned. Other than that he pretty much does his own thing.

Riley likes to be in the same room/have me in his sight most of the time. But Aura is a super velcro dog and would prefer physical contact 100% of the time if she had her way. She is super cuddly and follows me everywhere nosing any body part she can find. She constantly noses my hands so they will pet her. I love it.

The only time it bothers me is when I'm trying to get out the door in CLEAN work clothes without nose or paw prints on them! Yeah, doesn't usually happen.

Bear will follow me from room to room, but he doesn't need to be right on top of me. Except in the kitchen. He doesn't really beg, but always lays right under someone's feet at the table. When I get out of the shower I always find him waiting outside of the bathroom door, but if I'm only upstairs for a few minutes he waits downstairs.

Pig will not let me go anywhere without her. If I forgot something up in my bedroom? She runs up the stairs with me. Have to put the garbage out? She waits at the door for me to get back. Sitting on the couch? She'll probably be in my lap. She sleeps with her body pressed up against me under the covers. If no one else is home to watch her and I don't put her in a crate, she naps on the bathroom floor while I shower.

Recently I've been busy rearranging the whole house. Pig will often get right in the middle of a huge pile of things I'm sorting through, drop some sort of toy and look at me like, "Hey, what you're doing is kind of boring, so I brought this to you. It'll be much more fun, I promise." If her play attempts go ignored for too long or she's told to lay down numerous times she'll go off and play on her own/mess with Bear/take a nap on the couch.

Bear is much better about staying out of the way while I'm cleaning, as long as I'm sitting in one place while I sort through things. He likes to lay down right outside of the pile of things, so if I have to move around I end up having to step over him constantly.

Bamm is a total velcro dog. He has bad SA and likes to be wherever I am. If I'm in the bathroom he will push his weight against the door trying to open it and stay there until I'm done. It doesn't matter what room I am in, he is there also. He likes to constantly be touching me as well. Personally I find it can be a bit annoying sometimes. I don't mind him being in the same room with me, but the constantly having to touch me used to be adorable when I first got him, but now it just bugs me sometimes.

Cricket is not so velcro. She's a pretty independent dog and likes to do her own thing and doesn't really care to have to be at my feet all the time. With that said, she does like to at least be in the same room or same general area as me. She does have her velcro moments, but it really just depends and more often than anything she isn't super velcro. Yesterday we.went to a friend's house though and she was adamant about going with me to the bathroom every time lol.

Boomer is a very velcro/shadow dog and I love him like that. But I don't know how many times I've about broke a leg when I've tried to take a step back while cooking and trip over the dog laying at my feet!

Desoto is always by my side, he almost feels like an extension of me at times, If I so much as shift my weight he does too. I don't find him annoyingly velcro though he just likes to be near me he doesn't do annoying things like sit between me and the counter when I cook, stand in my way or constantly want to be petted, hell he doesn't really even like to be pet. He just wants to be near me and watch over me.

Radar likes to be near me, he is sleeping with his head in my lap right now, but he is just as happy to sleep on his blanket on the other side of the room. He will venture to a different room or floor for a little while then come back to check in on me, usually throwing himself at me and giving me kisses like he has not seen me in 1000 years:rofl1: I would say he is moderately velcro.

Karma and Kenai can be sometimes but they are usually fairly independent. However, Darla IS a shadow dog. And not to her owner - my sister - but me. Drives me nuts.

In the house, the JRTs are not super velcro-y or shadowy. They mostly hang out in the livingroom (in earshot) of the kitchen and can be there in .2 seconds. Outside of the house they are extreme velcro, especially when we go to our cabin up north; unless there's a squirrel, chipmunk, snake, etc. Mini will follow my dad when he's mowing the lawn so closely if he stops she runs into his legs.

Jack is my little shadow at home. He will go outside to potty and when he comes back in he will search for me, even though I just saw him a minute ago. He'll follow me from room to room, wait outside the bathroom door but lying against it and never let me out of sight. However, when we go out in public it's like I don't exist and he wants nothing to do with me (except, for example, at agility if I leave him alone with someone else he panics and pretends like he loves me).

Yep! English Shepherds are nicknamed English Shadows for this reason.

Quinn doesn't trip me following so close or anything like that (not like my GSD who was literally glued to me) but she always has to know where I am. I have mirrored sliding doors on my closet and Quinn will actually watch me and hold eye contact through the mirror - a little creepy, lol, but intelligent! She's very thoughtful about where she rests too - I notice she likes to have me in her line of sight but also wants to be close to a stairway so she can hear downstairs as well.

The 4 chis are ALL shadow dogs- I can't even go to the bathroom alone. Rory can go either way, but he's definitely not as clingy as the chihuahuas.

Kai would be a shadow dog if it wasn't for all the people in the house. He still stays by me the most though. Right now I'm on the computer and he is laying under me. When I do homework he is typically under the table. See, if I lived alone he would totally be one. By myself he would follow me all over the house and stay outside the bathroom door if I'm in one.

Gambit is not a 'lay on top of you all the time and oh my God can I stare into your eyes because you are the sun and moon and all the stars to me' sort of shadow dog, thank God! If I wanted that level of needy I would have had a kid.
He's more a 'I like to be in the room with you, and I want to be able to see you, but I'm ok if you aren't with me all the time'

Argon could care less if I was here or not , as long as Yum-Yum's appears on time.

Finn's pretty shadowy. Right now he's asleep in his crate (door open) in the other room, but if he hears me get up and move he'll be immediately at my side. If I'm moving about the house, he wants to be where I am. He'll sometimes shadow my roomies too. At work he'll follow my co-workers or I around, but if I gate him behind the counter he's content there.

I just wish he was more of a shadow outside and in other situations. His recall is terrible, but inside he's velcro.
