I was just cruising around the internet when I came across this.

http://www.pups4kids.com/

The dogs don't look very happy or healthy. They are all mixed breeds and from the looks of it they are producing a TON. Not only that, but I was looking at the 'Puppies Sold' section and wanted to point out the age of some of the children. If I was a breeder, I wouldn't want to sell a dog to a family with younger children. I know that no matter how much you tell a three year old boy not to pull a dogs ears; he'll do it. At that age they just don't realize that's it's painful for the dog. Also, I wanted to share with you some comments...

Robin,
Thank you again for the puppy - we named her "Button" as in "Cute as a
Button". She is really sweet, fun and spunky. Already let out a baby bark and even jumped off my couch and just wagged her little tail. Anyway, the reason I was writing is I wanted to see what perfume you used on her? It smells really pretty - my Mom and I really like it a lot, and since
I know Button likes it too, I'd like to pick some up to occasionally use.
Can I buy this someplace online or at a local store?
Thank you again for everything!
Craig

How do you know your puppy enjoys being sprayed with perfume? It may smell nice to us but how do you know the dog enjoys that smell? Also, dogs have such a stronger sense of smell that it must be horribly strong to them!

Dear Robin,
I wanted to let you know that we couldn't be more happy with the
beautiful puppy you provided to our family. My 2-year old daughter
named him "Murphy," which sounds like "Mercy" when she says it. Our
first visit to the vet was pure pleasure as both doctor and his staff
made a huge fuss over how perfect Murphy was. We're making some
progress, little by little, into learning how to live together, and
me and Murphy are signed up for a puppy-training class, or is it a
human-training class?I thought you might like to know that we found
Pups4Kids to be a top-drawer, first-rate experience, and that you've
made this family
very happy.
Thanks to you for all your terrific help.
Best regards,
Paul

Again, they sold a puppy to a family with a two-year old? IMO, your just asking for the child or puppy to get hurt...

Here are their puppies available at the moment.

Available Now

M SHIH TZU YORKIE $799
M & F PUG SHIH TZU $899

M SOFT COATED WHEATEN TERRIER $899

How can they POSSIBLY be able to spend the right amount of time socializing all these puppies in one of the most important stages of their lives?

Another thing, the websites states that you have 48 hours to return your puppy if our not 'satisfied'.

You have 48 hours to return the puppy for any reason if you are not fully satisfied.

First of all, it sounds like they are selling some sort of toy or piece of furniture. Secondly, how can you tell what a dog will be like in 2 days after it has been seperated from it's littermates for the first time and plunked into some strange home? You cant. Plain and simple. People should have at LEAST a week to decide whether or not the puppy/dog is right for their family.

Sorry about this rant :( .

I just hate seeing these kind of money-making setups.

I agree, looks like a terrible place. BUT, I do not agree with NOT putting a dog into a home just because there is young children. Not all children are mean and disrespectful!! Just like a dog, it is what you put into them.

If I was a breeder, I wouldn't want to sell a dog to a family with younger children. I know that no matter how much you tell a three year old boy not to pull a dogs ears; he'll do it. At that age they just don't realize that's it's painful for the dog.
I have a three year old, I have a six year old, I have a 16 year old. My dogs are 2, 21/2, and almost 6. We have raised pups and babies/toddlers together with NO problems and no disrespect, as a matter of fact it is good for them both.........child and pup. (with supervision of course). And my 3 year old boy DOES understand that it hurts the dog if you pull on their ears.

My 6 year old has his own parakeet for almost two years now. The bird has attached himself to my six year old, was only four when we got him. My son has tamed, trained, and cares for this delicate parakeet. I think not enough responsiblity and education is being put forth to our young children because they "CAN" be more responsible and caring than what they are given credit for.

I think kids and dogs can work out. I've spent most of my life with my dogs. My sister has a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter. They know that you have to respect the animals and that they have feelings too. My nephew loves dogs, he loves to pet them, play with them, feed them. He knows you don't pull their ears or their tail, you don't hit them, you don't yell at them, you don't annoy them. But it still helps to have tolerant animals. My lab let he and sister sit on her!

I don't like the looks of the place either. I agree with Julie though. I have an almost 2 year old and she has lived with a dog since a little before her first birthday. I know some breeders and shelters have denied us a dog but I do not think it is fair. My daughter is exceptionally gentle with the dogs and that is mainly because she has been around them since she was so little. I don't think it is fair to deny someone a puppy just because they have young children. I just think the parents need to understand they will have to put more work into making sure the children aren't rough or disrepectful to the puppy.

I see your where your coming from :) .

I was always very respectful as a young child to the dogs in my house. I think I may have come across slightly harsh. I have seen some very bad cases in my area of dogs and babies. I know most of the people on this forum are dog crazy and really are dedicated to their dogs. However, if I bred dogs I doubt I would sell them to families with children under the age of three. I don't think the average dog owner is as knowledgable as the people on this site. So again, I have just seen some bad cases and wouldn't want anyone getting hurt.

I have young children, and have had good luck adding a pup to our home. Of course we do work with both Luke and the kids, supervise all the time, and have him in obedience classes. We also added a Golden...to make things a bit simpler.

That said, I've seen that site before, and it's disturbing. Perfume on a puppy??

on the first page the link takes you too the puppies look so sad :'(

i've had dogs all my life. i think people with kids can have dogs... but on the other hand if you have a hyper, rambunctious kid, i think you should be intelligent enough to say 'maybe i should wait until my kid is older before getting a dog' because i know some kids just aren't right for animals

Ew that sucks.

:(

I didn't know breeders were allowed to have more than a few litters per year. I thought dogs were only supposed to have 3 or 4 in their life..

Kids and dogs are OK as long as it's the right breed.

I meen to say is, I wouldnt place a IG or a Chi with a 2yr old. Now a lab or something more "wear and tear" would be OK

I think it's okay to have a kid with a 'more wear and tear' dog (as JenSLK said). However the MAJORITY of the dogs on that website are quite small so that was what I was getting at.
