well people who don't know the breed and just go by the media tend to hate or dislike them. I don't know when i was a kid it was rottie and dobes but look at them now i hope that will be the future for our pitties.

It's interesting. Most dogs don't react very well to Bailey (my puppy) swatting at their face (for some reason he does this, I think he learned it from the cat..hehe..). At his obiedence class, he was out going potty and another lady came up with her pitbull. She asked if they could sniff each other, and I said "Sure, but he swats sometimes." She said that was fine, and I SWEAR, Bailey swatted that dog in the face multiple times. He just sniffed and was very polite and sweet.

That full grown pitbull was more friendly to my Bailey then the hound down the street.

People can be so rude, close minded, and stupid.

People are so ignorant. I actually have people dodge me, when I've got Beethoven on leash. He's not even full Pittie, and people look at me like he's going to bite them. Of course, not all people are like that; when I take him to work with me, everybody want to pet him, and he just loves attention. All he wants is to be loved.

Pitties are my favorite breed of dog.

I really do think that years from now people WILL look at pits just like rotties & dobies. They've come a long way over the years and now they're "distinguished" to have. I think pits will be that way too, it's just going to take time and education - same as before. I think we're on our way though. Ya know - we always go on and on about how rotten people are toward our pits (rightfully so to, I mean going on about it - not people being rotten) but like someone else said - they're not all bad. We get compliments too when we go out with Cheeta or we go out with our friends and they have Kenya, Paris or Diesel with them. The problem is STUPID people...and I'm not talking about the people who are close minded and have been TAUGHT to hate pits. I'm talking about the owners who have them and fight them and make them mean, the ones who play up their background and heritiage, not the knoble part of their heritage either, all the bad stuff - those are the dogs that get the bad reputations and ruin it for the good ones. I wish there was a way we could get all the pits in the world to good nurturing, loving homes and do away with the comercialized pit. Then everyone would see one and be like "Awww how cute/sweet, look honey it's a pit..." not "OMG look honey it's a pit, grab the kids and run!!" anyway, my 2cents...

And I also wish people would look into the Pits history. Yes they were used for dogfighting and bull baiting, but if people looked and saw how that took place, their minds might be changed. The Pitties were wonderful with kids, even if they were fighters. And when the dogs faught, a person would have to pick up his dog while it was fighting. If they Pit bit the person, the dog would be killed. If they just looked into the Pitties history they'd see dog aggresive dogs that LOVE people and kids. Not man and beast eating monsters.

Yep, little old Petey was a Pitbull. Imagine that, a so called 'child eater' doing a movie with them as their best friend! lol :p

They do have t-shirts with Petey on them. I don't remember the website, but the shirts have a picture of petey with all the little rascals. On the back it says, Petey was a pit bull. If you go to badrap.org and click on shop, they have lots of t-shirts and stuff you can buy. Some of them say "Judge the deed, not the breed". There is one that says "Who's your daddy" Stop backyard breeding. It's a very cool website. You should check it out.
