Okay okay I just got back from Nolu's! Here's my update!
I left at 9:30 to make the trek to Maryland to pick up Dahlia. Made it to the house around 10:30. Dahlia barked her head off when I knocked on the door, letting me know she was there! Her owner was very, very nice. He brought her in from the garage and introduced us (He pronounced her name "Delilah" and spelled it "Dahila", FYI--though obviously it's changeable!), and she let me pet her right away. He seemed nervous for some reason, and had me throw treats on the ground for her, but she was just a big baby
He gave me her favorite blanket (a big smelly comforter!) and I lined the back seat of my car with it. (He also gave me doggy wipes to clean up her drool, lol!) He had to lift her into the backseat--she wasn't excited about going, but she did as she was told. (Dahlia sure fills up the back seat of an eclipse, let me tell you.) He thanked me, and said he didn't want to get super emotional and went back inside. (He's had her since she was a puppy, and just doesn't have the time for her anymore, I guess)
She cried a little when we were leaving, but shortly settled down, alternating between staring out the window and lying down with her blankey.
It was two hours to Nolu's, and Dahlia was a sweetheart the whole way. She took a couple treats from my hand (snurfle snurfle!) and let me reach back and pet her at all the red lights
When we got to Nolu's, she jumped out of the car and stretched out. (I wish we had a picture of her lying sprawled on the deck!)
Soon I needed to leave. Dahlia tried to crawl under my car and come home with me, but I told her that she'll like Nolu's more than my dinky little apartment! Stef led her into the house, and I kissed her goodbye!
Unfortunately, my camera batteries were dead, so all I have are some cell phone pics. I'm sure Nolu will have good ones tonight though. She's absolutely stunning, Linda!
Okay, time to go take Lucy to the park so she stops being jealous of Dahlia's scent on me!
