Hey guys, it turns out that my roommate's puppy gave my puppy distemper before it died. So now my puppy is, well, sick as a dog.

It's been a bad week around here for puppies. Any hints on how to feed a puppy medicine that it really doesn't want to eat? Any hints on how to feed a puppy food that it doesn't want to eat?

Thanks guys.

Thanks, fresh bread with medicine soaked into it seems to be working for the time being.

Too soon to tell.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pup.

Try people baby food. One of our fosters had phnumonia (sorry sp) which made him not want to put any effort into chewing so he wouldn't eat any kind of puppy food. But, he licked up the baby food like crazy.

If your pup won't eat peanut butter, try butter or try putting in his dish with a very small amount of baby food.

I'm sorry your pup is so ill. Sending my best wishes for him to recover. I always have good luck with a little blob of peanut butter for getting pills down and canned dog food, sometimes a little sprinkle of parmessan cheese helps them to eat their food. Let us know how he does. Poor baby.

He ate a piece of bread that had the medicines soaked in. And then he ate and buried another piece that was plain.

So yeah, he's eating again. And looking a little less sick and possibly a little more perky. But not out of the woods yet.

Man, this was a sucky day. I'll keep you posted.

glad he is trying to eat again. Bread doesn't have a ton of good vitamins in it. Try a bit of canned dog food, or a bit of canned tripe would be even better.

Please keep us posted!!! Hope he continues to improve.

We're going to the vet again tonight. Probably won't be a happy visit if you know what I mean.

Since my last post he hasn't eaten anything and he's not keeping water down either. He has thick gluey spit hanging down to the ground and goop coming out of his ear. He stands in the corner and hangs his head for long periods of time. I think he peed himself and the discharge from his eyes is matted all over his cheeks. He's in bad shape, but being mostly wild he won't let me clean him up. And that's not mentioning the mange spots all over him. Poor little guy is in bad shape.
